Super weird, but my wife and I both hate sitting middle (her because she has to pee and me because I am not the appropriate size for commercial travel) so we both just book aisle seats in the same row.

Idk if my travel paranoia would let me leave it up to chance that some kind soul would trade with one of us so we could sit together.

 

Nothing wrong with any of that, virtually every other country utilizes the whole animal and if hotdogs are our cultures way of doing the same then I say good.

 

Ok slow down lol that was in response to one thing, hot dogs are extremely processed and unhealthy, and the source for the vast majority are from cruel and wasteful factory farms. They aren’t some cultural way of being resourceful, it’s just capitalism and big food industry getting every last penny.

 

I would argue that is our culture.

This is a fascinating article and also an absolute rabbit hole into a world that I've barely touched the tip of the iceberg on. I had no idea about coffee in the garden being an offensive/out of touch act, who west elm Caleb is, I had no idea that there was a debate about consent for sharing food with neighbors and if/when it's a white savior act, and I had no idea about the trans lady who did a dance and got harassed because people became convinced they were a serial killer? Basically, I really had no idea that twitter/tiktok was full of mundane tweets/anecdotes blowing up like that. Good thing that I never post, and now I don't think I ever want to.

I think the basic point of the article is an extremely strong one in that it's worth examining how our reactions to stories online (and especially how active we make those reactions), is vastly different from in person. It's so true that if someone says something we don't relate to, or take minor issue to, we just move on. No one argues in real life with everything like they do online.

I'll be thinking about this piece for a minute and I don't even consider myself remotely chronically online (despite how much I've been posting here lately that may indicate otherwise).

I was about to listen to the Daily today before I remember the strike. So I don't know what the actual content is but the title of today's episode is "Why Haiti Wants an Armed Intervention". It sure sounds like they're going full propaganda on this one. Is Raytheon not making enough on the war in Ukraine right now? Do they need a second war?
