Revamping a cinematic universe and leading with Lobo is certainly a choice.

 

Honestly, it makes sense from the perspective that Lobo is a cosmic character and is very on-brand for Gunn.

It was kinda obvious it would be a Beyond movie considering Keaton's age. Still crushing to hear confirmation, that's my dream movie

 

Every single time we get *this* close and then it’s shut down again and it becomes increasingly clear they will never let me have a Batman Beyond movie. Batman Beyond with an aged Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne? And you’re not going to let me have that? Hahaha fuck yooooouuuuu

 

It must be so hard to really revamp this thing with a truly clean slate. My obvious guess is James Gunn's plan is to use The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker as the new foundations, but both of those feature Snyderverse characters, and I doubt he's willing to revamp those properties along with everything else.

If he brings Cavill, Momoa, Gadot (God I hope not), and Pattinson? along and soft-reboots their characters I guess it would work? But it'd be a bit odd still.
