  2. I'd always found it weird that Redmayne was in The Danish Girl, and I wasn't even out (or self-aware) yet

I really don't get interested in casting news very often, but if Eddie Redmayne is in a movie you know it is going to be bad.

    Oh really?

  5. How many of them are shitty, though? Like, obviously Casey Affleck, but isn't Gary Oldman also? And that whole Leo only dates <25yo meme?

Joaquin himself isn't, afaik, but Joker fans are the worst.

Then in 2021 Hopkins won, but it was the comical moment of them doing it at the end because they thought Boseman was going to win posthumously. Then Will Smith lol

The Casey Affleck sexual harassment took place on a project he was doing with Joaquin

  9. Oh, that's right! So that's why I felt Joaquin, and in another way Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, were all slightly shitty by association

(also Matt Damon is just an idiot wrt representation but being dumb and being shitty are two slightly different things)

How expensive is it for a film to get a wide release? Marketing excluded, I guess

I’d love a break down of how much money they make from these and how many people actually watch them

They can probably float on that Sharknado money for a while.

  15. My dad tried to block MTV when I was like 8

  16. My parents blocked MTV (channel 36) on our TV when I was about that age, but then our channels shuffled around and they didn't bother to change the block settings so the new channel 36 (Bravo, I think) was blocked until we got rid of that TV.

My parents staunchly refused to let us watch King of the Hill because the only thing they knew about it was that it was the same creator as Beavis and Butthead lol

The one show my parents objected to was South Park otherwise they were super chill

  20. My parents had DIRECTV, and to block a channel, you basically had to use a four digit code.

my brother and I figured out the code after like two weeks. It was our house number lol.

One time my brother and I were wrestling at our after school babysitter’s house. We were just messing around and having fun but for some reason she told our parents it was vicious and violent so then we couldn’t watch wrestling for a few months.

depends if the film gets a traditional run from the theater (no cost up front, split the revenue) or if they are four-walling theaters (pay-to-play). The latter is much more expensive, but sometimes the only way to get into theaters anymore

I've worked on a lot of movies just like this and the answer is they are very cheap to make and they sell like hotcakes. I guarantee your mind would be blown how many DVDs of Top Gunner and the sequel have sold.

I don’t think my parents ever cared what I was watching. I remember being like 7yo and sitting with my older sister and her friends while they watched a rental of American History X and feeling like, I should not be allowed to be in here rn
