Nah, I still think it's Ferngully.

Frankly, I'm not expecting this movie to be anything but a visual showcase. That might sound weird coming from a Marvel movie fan, but here we are.

 

What i dont get is, why is being Ferngully bad? More movies should be about climate change

 

Avatar is less Ferngully than Fast and the Furious is Point Break at least

 

I want it on the record that I never said it was bad, but I'm also not hotly anticipating an original mind blowing screenplay for Avatar 2 either. And that's okay too.

 

Since the first Avatar movie, I've been fantasizing about seeing the story progress into a space oprea, where the naavi have these organic matter spaceships that are like living breathing trees (instead of metal ones) and maybe like a collective consciousness of naavi piloting them all hooked up in the nature version of cryo sleep and I would sit through 3 more "unoriginal" scripts with hokey dialogue just to see what that would look like on the silver screen

 

Yeah until we know the plot i’ll reserve judgement. So many directions they can go with this.

 

I agree but there is still something kind of charming about one of the greatest and most successful directors of all time disappearing for a decade at a time to make these movies.

Got tickets to a 3D showing of this just because I heard so much about the 3D for the original. Hoping its worth it because generally I'm not a big fan of the darkness with the glasses.

 

It'll make half of that just from the Chinese box office alone.

 

I don’t see this getting close to the originals box office. Wouldn’t be surprised if the China box office makes up 70% of it’s worldwide total.

 

the original was the only movie worth seeing in 3D so I’d have to think this will also be worth it.
