overall I think a fair result based on how the teams played. we were way better first half, Wales was way better second half. but man fuck that ref.

We look much better than expected and one mistake cost us 2 points. About right. Before watching, I would've taken a 1-1 draw. But after watching, it's not a good result.

But I don't think Wales can beat England or Iran playing like they did today.

  4. It’s not a bad result but the way we gave up the equalizer is pretty frustrating

Maybe he is usually just reffing Sunday league games without linesman. Then his movement makes sense ;)

Feel like Musah coming off had way more impact than I expected. Midfield got way too disconnected without him in there.

Man that 2nd half was a bummer

  8. It will likely come down to goal diff for second place. I’d expect England win beats us and Wales. And for both to beat Iran.

That is exactly what it was like to be honest. He kept getting way to drawn into one half's side where he had the linesman there to help him. Which is me just being nitpicky but its really basic shit that they drill into you at even the earliest of ref badges here in the States.

They can definitely beat Iran. And a lot of room to worry if its like, England 6 Wales 4 US 1 Iran 0 going into the final day as England will be perfectly content for a draw.

Yeah England only needing a draw is going to be a giant issue.

I don't think England will be content for a draw if it forces them to the bad side of the bracket if they end up in 2nd. They gotta win the group.

Im a bit more optimistic that Iran can beat Wales. They have a dangerous striker and will find ways to get him the ball. And for what little its worth, they’re ranked just one spot below wales ;) i cant believe it but ill be up early to watch that match.

But if they have 6 and Wales has 4, they'll be top of the bracket with a draw.

Problem is of course a draw can easily turn into a loss with one counter attack, but you could see a very boring game where both teams are content to draw

Its also still clearly an issue that we cant find ways to create chances and even take shots. There is no one (except Weah) they could put in the 9 spot that im confident will be a continual threat over 90 minutes. This was the same old Sargent we’ve seen in a US jersey. He didnt play poorly per se but, like many of our strikers, he had very little time on the ball and even less time with it in front of the net.

I'm curious if the plan was/is Pulisic-Sargeant-Weah for Wales and Aaronson-Ferreira-Reyna for England.

I hate that he is from my state and has a stake (its a fan stake just like many of us have so nothing special but still) in Detroit City FC. I want him as far away as possible from here.

Quite possibly. Esp if the plan was to start strong, snag 3 points and then rest PSW. But I think starting AFR against England is a plan to not score. I guess im not a fan of Berhalter’s system, tbh. Honestly think we should be playing with a more traditional 10. Id like to see Puli on the left, Weah up top, aaronson on the right and Reyna pulling the strings. Weah’s speed is quick enough to beat most defenders with runs like we saw tonight. I know he is played as a winger but Reyna plays much better attacking through the middle than anyone else on the team. Thats a dimension of our game that is frustratingly under utilized in favor of playing it down the wing (which im not opposed to at times).

what a frustrating draw. really makes the game against Iran so important. really need to throttle them in that one.
