Violent waves is down there. The songs are oddly structured, and most often too long and Anthony's voice is pretty grating at times. Birth of the economic hit man and the beginning of the lottery are both examples of where his voice loses me. There's also a lot of ugly melodies that just don't sound pleasing to me. They're just off for whatever reason.

However - to be positive, Brother Song / Bird Sounds / Blood from a stone are a strong trio and my only friend is not bad either.

Descensus is easily my worst. I don't like most of the songs or the production on it.

On a first few listens, this LS Dunes album is good, like really good. It's better than the last Saosin album.

violent waves and descensus both just sound thin as fuck to me

Yep, I love a lot of the songs on Descensus, but that one is just tough to listen to sonically. Always bugs me

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I do not think an album with Economic Hitman on it is going through the motions lol but that's just me

  7. Listened to this a few times and it was nice but ultimately felt a bit tame to me, not sure how much I'll revisit outside of a couple songs. I think my favorite Anthony project is still the Saosin album. Still so happy to get so much material from him this year! Maybe this will grow on me.

Descensus is def their most underrated. Love that record!

  9. Violent Waves is such a good record, it's a bummer to read that it doesn't resonate with so many fans. But I never got into Juturna so I get it, some records just don't work for some people.

Violent Waves grew on me A LOT. It took a long time to get there for me, but it got there. Having to follow up Blue Sky Noise didn’t help it’s case though lol.

also, the Appendage EP…one of my favorite EPs of all time.

I’m so glad this came out when it did. Complements the cold weather and the dark so well.

Also if anyone ever asks me for a great example of an album centerpiece I would point them to Blender. What a song.

Love the way Anthony sings the line” I know it’s a lot to ask, but I’m desperate” on antibodies.

His lyrics on this album are incredible. I relate to too many of them. 2022 is a gut punch every time.

This is completely different, but it's taking me back to when the Appendage EP came out. Must be the time of year and AG.

I like this record but my issues aren’t so much with Anthony’s vocals but the guitars. The mix on them are easily one of my biggest complaints.

Two guitarists capable of shredding big time and it sounds like every position is just playing support. On choruses that could have felt huge like Grey Veins - the guitars just hold it back a little.
