That makes more sense, because he seemed to specifically push Spurs which I thought was weird.

I assume people in this thread already know about and read David Squires but his work leading up to the World Cup has been equal parts brilliant and maddening.

It'll be a $5 donation to the winner's charity of choice. @Nick started that trend with the Euros and I really liked it, haha.

I'm very lucky that I got tickets closer to what I wanted to spend vs what I was willing to spend. This feels like a last chance to see some of the country songs I've loved for years so I went for it.

Yeah. Pricing in the US for events is kinda... staggering these days. A ton of people are priced out and that really sucks. I'm lucky that I make an okay wage and budget very tightly to afford events because it's a choice I'm actively making because it brings me a lot of happiness. It doesn't feel great seeing rises across the board, though (and Ticketmaster fucking sucks). I got season tickets to the Tennessee Vols football team this year for $300/seat ($42/game for 7 games) and it feels like a bargain (especially because we ended up being on of the top 5 teams in the country). But I see people paying $400 for bad tickets to NFL games all the time. I looked into some hockey games recently and they were over $100 for the upper seats, too.

The World Cup starts on Sunday?? What the fucking fuck

  8. I think I'm just numb to US ticket prices. My season tickets for Charlotte come out to ~45/game which I didn't think was bad until I saw comparisons to European prices. But I sit 9th row and have a really good view, so I still don't mind the pricing.

I remember that being my general takeaway during my year living in Newcastle. Went to all but one match while living nextdoor to SJP, and sure the matches against Man U, Chelsea, Sunderland, etc. were relatively expensive, but nothing in comparison to Maple Leaf, Raptors or Toronto FC tickets.

Someone in my section bought tickets to Tennessee-Bama for $650 each on the resale market. At least it ended up being worth the money, but I got a whole season for less.

That’s what really needs fixed. The resale market. Get the bots out of the game.

The Everton forum I use has it's very own resale/spares section where you can buy tickets at face value only.

Same for my Newcastle one. They really don't have the same resale ticket culture there - which is commendable.

Argentina to win the World Cup with Messi as top scorer is 40/1. Just a cheeky £10 on that from me.

  14. Thinking about doing a $5 parlay picking the group winners but can't decide my surprise group winner. Right now the non-favorites I have down are Denmark and Uruguay.

Michigan vs. Ohio St. is going for like $500 right now and I expect it to continue to climb as we get closer to The Game.

I feel like I love sports as much as anyone, but can never wrap my head around spending that much on 3 hours of entertainment. I guess we all value things differently. I do regret that I didn't spent $500 yesterday on a severely discounted new Denon receiver before it sold though - stupid termite treatment I had to save for.

The only ticket I paid a decent amount for and not close to as much as the one in that post was last year when Michigan played in the Big Ten Championship. It was the first time they have ever been so it was more about finally getting there so we went ahead and pulled the trigger on them.

I get in the case of something like that but Michigan vs. Ohio State plays every year and sometimes they have high stakes like this year and sometimes they don't but its not like its something that had more outsized significance like a Championship game or even a World Cup.

Southgate definitely had prior warning of this. No choice.

Yeah this deal seems really short sighted the more that comes out and I am in no way going out of my way to subscribe to it. Understand that there will be some free games and a few on ESPN but I will keep my ESPN+ subscription rather than this.
