each of these albums have two or three songs that don't annoy me as much as most of their stuff. ultimately probably should have been one album though.

eddie might be their best song.

Dream Canteen might be there best since SA. I say maybe bc it’s brand new and I really like I’m With You.

It’s a million times better than Unlimited Love.

I see this being my number 2 RHCP album behind By the Way. Really like the vast majority of these.

Fantastic album. John really shines on this one. Love the whole vibe. They can still bring it.

three of my least favorite bands in my 20s were the killers (admittedly idiotic), the 1975 and this band and all three are putting out shit i like now, im too old to be a hater

most of the classic songs are still nails on a chalk board to me but the last two boiled down even into one 17 song album might be their best work

I've always been of the opinion that their funk/rap rock stuff is obnoxious but they also are capable of making some incredibly pretty and catchy music when they're not doing that. Starting with By the Way (their best album) they lean way more towards the sound I like

That's a fair take but I think the funk/rap stuff tends to break up the monotony of all their mid-tempo smooth California pop. For example, Stadium Arcadium is a rare double album that has no real excess or experimentation, they just felt like writing that many songs and putting them out. No real clunkers in the bunch but it really runs together and there wasn't a ton of thought put into sequencing.

Californication through Stadium Arcadium is by far the band's best run and it's not even close.

Counterpoint: There are at least 14 clunkers on Stadium Arcadium.

Blood Sugar ranks very low for me in their discography. Probably my least favorite from any of their 90's and beyond stuff. People think I'm nuts for saying that. Peak RHCP for me is By The Way and Stadium Arcadium. I love their melodic ballad sounding stuff like Dosed, Tear, Wet Sand, etc... Give me melodies and John doing backup falsetto shit all day instead of Anthony's funk rapping.

    at least

honestly might only be like six decent songs on stadium arcadium

Ha, I mean, I have a pretty lenient grading system when it comes to clunkers. Only stuff that is, like, NOTICEABLY bad is what I really discount. I don't think there is anything on that record that isn't at least pleasant.

I made a single-disc version of it a few years ago when I wrote about it for the 10-year, and I had trouble putting together 14 songs I genuinely like. I think about 10 are really good and then you get some dodgy stuff.

I can think of, maybe 3-5 songs I would leave off of Stadium Arcadium.

I could also do away with pretty much everything prior to Californication. I have always thought BSSM was terribly overrated (outside of I Could Have Lied & Breaking the Girl).

    This!

I can listen to Stadium Arcadium front to back and only think of maybe 4 songs I can do without. If, Hey, that song about the Martian, and maybe hump de bump. And it’s not like I hate those songs either.
