Justin Benson doing an AMA before Something in the Dirt comes out this week (!!!) and he confirmed it's set in the same universe as Resolution and The Endless

  2. Haven't seen either of them, love SOV, and was planning on asking you for Plex recs anyways. Seems like as good a place as any to start!

Was also excited to see Bad Biology on there after not being able to find it anywhere!

I tried Cabinet of Horrors and watched the first 4 or so and it did nothing for me. Monsters don't scare me at all. The more Lovecraftian the more bored I get.

  4. Booooo (though I haven't started it yet so I shouldn't judge)

  5. I think what I love about SOV is that every movie is unique and needs to be seen to be believed. Splatter Farm is so insane, and I already know that Black Devil Doll From Hell is an going to be even wilder

I can understand that but if Monsters and/or Lovecraft aren’t your thing, there still might be something you’d enjoy here. The Outside or The Murmuring maybe.

Thanks. I'll check out those ones. I appreciate the tip.

Trying V/H/S again. Had a hard time starting it years ago with the creepy sexual assault in the first like five minutes. Still super uncomfortable by every one having at least one creepy female sexualized shot that feels violating. I don't like that kind of creepy. But I am enjoying it more than I thought I would after those first few minutes. I stopped it early cause I had to sleep but I'll probably finish this weekend

Yeah, V/H/S has one of the worst opening scenes ever, no matter the genre. I remember when I first saw it, and every viewing after that, thinking, “why the hell would you start a movie this way?”

There are a trillion ways to make characters instantly appear as unlikeable douchebags but to basically choose one of the absolute worst way always seemed like a bizarre choice since many would instantly be unhappy seeing that and turn it off.

Is anything here streaming? Everything I have searched for thus far is not available anywhere haha. I should also try your Plex again but it never works for me

  14. Yeah, I think those are all gonna be Spo Plex Picks, unfortunately.

  15. I think the only thing I really need to see before finalizing my EOTY list is The Northman, so I thought I'd share my Top 10 Horror Films of 2022, some honorable mentions, and a few non-horror picks:

    1. Pearl (Ti West)
    2. Nope (Jordan Peele)
    3. Out There Halloween Mega Tape (Chris LaMartina)
    4. Deadstream (Joseph & Vanessa Winter, streaming on Shudder)
    5. Bodies Bodies Bodies (Halina Reijn)
    6. Prey (Dan Trachtenberg, streaming on Hulu)
    7. Men (Alex Garland)
    8. Fresh (Mimi Cave, streaming on Hulu)
    9. Hellraiser (David Bruckner, streaming on Hulu)
    10. Watcher (Chloe Okuno, streaming on Shudder)

Honorable Mentions: Scream (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, streaming on Paramount+), Crimes of the Future (David Cronenberg), Studio 666 (BJ McDonnell)

Non-horror picks: Jackass Forever/Jackass 4.5 (Jeff Tremaine, streaming on Paramount+ and Netflix), The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (Tom Gormican), Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe (Mike Judge, streaming on Paramount+), Weird: The Al Yankovich Story (Eric Appel, streaming on the Roku Channel)

What a great year for horror. And movies in general.

On Plex now and it’s saying that all the ones I have been invited to are not available. I actually looked around in their embedded library this time though and Timecrimes is free on here (I think?)! I’ve really been wanting to rewatch it

Edit: Oh god the ads are brutal so far

Hm my best advice would be to check and make sure you’re signed in with the same email that you were invited with? Other than that uninstall and reinstall? Thats a bummer, I can also re-invite you if needed!
