Tomori over Dier is the only change I'd make, maybe another actual LB too.

I pray to god we never play Dier or Maguire.

Dier being there is not great, Guehi or Tomori would be better, but honestly no real complaints there

Maguire and Dier should play your second match, tbh. Perfect time to rotate them in.

  5. End of last season through the beginning of this season Dier was really good. But the last month or so he’s been in really bad form. And that’s always been the issue with him. There will be flashes of a good player but you can’t trust him.

  6. Looking forward to watching Swiderski score a couple goals for Poland but not looking forward to the attention he’ll get from European clubs lol I don’t want to lose him in Charlotte.

Is Coady actually any good cause I'm seeing a lot of pushback against him on Twitter

Feels like if there's any weaknesses for England they're all in defence

I'm not massively against Coady actually. He's been decent to good for Everton from what I've seen (@Big Un would be able to give a better view). As a 5th choice CB (given Walker is played RCB by Southgate), he gives good leadership.

Dier is the one for me. Either switch to a different CB, or maybe even to Mitchell from Palace for LB cover.

We're light at CM, but that's down to available options more than anything.

    It's all hell.

Dier and Maguire are unfortunate picks but they are Southgate guys so I guess they were to be expected.

Very happy that Maddison and White have made the squad.

  12. Hearing Conte talk about how tired Kane is right now has me concerned about the WC. England has so many options in the attack so it might not be a huge factor, but they’re gonna need him to be impactful. And it’s not like he’ll have that much time to recover.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Our defence looks especially suspect. I don't think we can put out a back 4 or 5 of players who have been having even a reasonable season. Trippier has been having a decent enough time (but TAA will be picked over him) and the best you can say about the rest is that they haven't done anything particularly wrong.

Think we've missed the boat on keepers as well. The loyalty to Pickford over the last year means we've not had any real opportunity to blood Ramsdale or perhaps Pope as a serious alternative (and maybe even an improvement).

We've at least got some good options in decent form throughout midfield and the forwards (not sure about Sterling being there). Toney has been very unlucky to miss out. Can't really see Wilson getting a game, as he won't replace Kane and I doubt he'll play him with Kane (which would probably work very nicely).

  14. Feel bad for Sessegnon too. He had a real opportunity to earn a spot on the squad due to the lack of depth at LB/LWB but he just hasn't performed well enough. I still think there's a good player there but he's struggling.

I feel like many squads as a whole thus far have been lacking in defense. Nothing about any defense I've seen thus far touches how elite a lot of these attacks are.

    Germany and France, too.

  18. Belgium always have my favorite roster until I scroll over to their defense lol

Let's get these people moving faster!

Biased Newcastle fan here, but Trippier has been incredible this season - and we wouldn't even be in the top half without him. But completely agree otherwise. Do wonder if Toney didn't have his gambling investigation going on whether he'd have been selected - form certainly earned it.

Yeah I also feel Trippier is in fantastic form and will be one of the first names on the team sheet at RB, plus he can easily cover LB if needed.

Trippier - White - Stones - Shaw is a pretty good back four imo.

Thus far, we have 11 people participating in the draw.

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

IMHO Magurie should captain a back 3 line for Englands second game. Maybe give Pickford a rest too. Definitely won’t need Foden or Grealish.

Maybe play Sterling as a false 9. He did it at city a few times.
