I hate taunting penalties so much. I say it every time and I’m gonna say it again, while they might call white players on taunting to keep it “fair”… the whole rule exists because of racist white folks not wanting to see black folks show some swagger and embrace black excellence

 

And yet Tyreek Hill is still allowed to throw the peace sign up from time to time because he’s fast. Truly mind-boggling how he, of all players, has become an exception to the rule at times

 

Like honestly, in my experience, pretending to be meek to avoid appearing overconfident is a white culture thing. That’s not a thing that translates to AAVE expression and it’s stupid they’re trying to force it. In my experience it’s only ever been white people that pretend not to be confident because of the moral superiority of appearing “humble” (even though their *behavior* and *perspective* is often arrogant af and doesn’t match up with the sense of feigned humility in communication.)

i guarantee you Minkah didn’t go crying to the ref that AJ brown pointed at him and boasted a little bit cause Minkah would do it too if he intercepted him. It’s part of black pride to be unashamed to celebrate your successes and boast your skills. It’s a cultural response to the ways that society has historically been unfairly critical of black folks, and treated them violently any time they began to show any indignance or rebelliousness toward the racist status quo. Now you’re damn right we’re gonna boast what we’re good at / capable of accomplishing, and ain’t nobody gonna shut us up either.

it’s a massive double standard that most people are dicks about their teams but then get pissed when an opposing team’s player shows some cockiness. It’s the definition of dishing it out but expecting not to take it, and maybe this is a hot take but I think widespread white fragility explains 90% of that cognitive dissonance. It’s the same shit as criticizing black celebrities for wearing a lot of bling.

 

The only time you should be fined for taunting is when your a DB boasting about an incompletion that was the QB/WRs fault.

 

i would maybe add the person who recovers a fumble if they are not also the person that caused the fumble. Like, yes, what a great taunt… you were… in the right place at the right time I guess?

 

Idk getting to the ball on the ground is a skill sometimes and over the years we've seen many people accidentally knock a ball to the side while trying to grab it

seriously. It’s not catchy or pride inspiring or intimidating at all. it’s just an attempt to pander to the huge demographic of veterans in DC and get enough of them to like the team to offset the attrition of fans due to Snyder’s reckless and abusive mismanagement of the team.

That said… if ANYONE OTHER THAN BEZOS somehow beats Bezos to buying the team… I will be a Washington fan.
