Indont think the artists have a say in that sadly

Nah, there are certainly incentive structures in place to pressure artists into using dynamic pricing, and usually their booking/management make that choice for them, but it's absolutely possible to opt out, especially if you're as big as Taylor. Ed Sheeran's doing it, MCR did it, Taylor definitely can do it.

Oh okay, I thought it was just Ticketmaster doing whatever they can do

I will continue shouting this as long as it comes up. IF YOU SEE HIGH TICKET PRICES/DYNAMIC PRICING, THE ACT YOU ARE GOING TO SEE HAS OPTED IN TO THAT AND ALSO HAS A HIGH FEE WHICH DRIVES THE TICKET PRICE.

THAT being said, a lot of high fees usually account for large production, crew, travel costs, etc so it's not only based on greed. Ticketmaster is essentially a tech platform who, yes, gets a cut of the ticket fee but that's it.

"incentive structures" hah, yeah it's called the open market

dynamic/platinum is 100% controlled by the artist's team, and ticketmaster's job is to take the heat

Why not go the Garth Brooks stadium pricing model? Not a Garth fan but I really respect his ticket strategy. Every ticket in the stadium, regardless of location is the exact same price.

I want to say they were like $75-95 after fees? Can’t think of another act playing stadiums that uses a similar model to help keep it affordable.

  7. i think the assumption is that these tickets would just get scalped for higher prices

RATM tickets were $125 no matter what section you bought. But even then TM platinum tickets were selling for over $400

There is a very easy solution to that problem but artists refuse to do it. Nine Inch Nails, on their Lights In The Sky tour got around this by requiring the person who purchased the ticket to present their ID when entering the show.

This really restricts the consumers ability to resell their tickets but I’d rather have that stipulation than seeing scalping and dynamic ticketing continue.

I did not have to do that when I went to that tour haha. Had no idea that was a thing

  13. Yeah I think that’s a decent idea and basically if you can’t make the show you have to return it to the box office and the ticket becomes available for another buyer at the same price

Is the dynamic pricing only on general sales? I got a lower level blink ticket during the presale for $90. That same section the day of general sale was like $250.

Nope, I think you just got lucky because Cleveland slower than most dates initially.

Definitely just lucky that your date was slow. Toronto was normal priced for about 15 seconds before the dynamic pricing went into effect lol

I can’t believe me and my friends were able to get Austin tickets in the lower bowl for $180/ea including fees. $120-something before.

A band canceled a couple of shows, they said it was a health issue, and people are being weird about it on here, I’m shocked…

you speculated that a band on a sold out headlining tour would lie and cancel two dates to hang out in LA….
