    THIS WAS AN IG POST

It showed one half of 3Oh3! Promoting a tshirt putting Kevin Lyman on the same pedestal as Jesus.

caption mentioned that When We Were Young festival would not be possible without Kevin Lyman.

He backed the POS from Front Porch Step REALLY hard as well as other bad actors within the scene.

It’s frustrating because many bands feel their success is tied to him.

This isn’t an accountability issue directly related to a musician but I don’t know where else to post this. If it’s in the wrong spot I can delete.

Can we finally fucking ban the user K? They’ve posted shit views on accountability for years, were being misogynistic in one of the Taylor Swift threads (IIRC the Lover thread), and have barely faced any consequences over the years.

I don’t have time to go and quote a lot of the shit from over the years, but recently they started some shit in a news post about the Win Butler situation

and just now have started more shit in the Noah Gundersen thread, essentially making a “separate the art from the artist” claim and “the artist is still active so it’s okay to post about them” when the artist in question hasn’t shown any proper accountability steps.

One of the goals of this website was to ensure that the victim blaming, separating the art from the artist, misogyny, and overall awful views on accountability would not transfer over from AP yet this user has been able to skate by doing these things without any long term consequences. Does someone want to explain why that is?

In these situations, I think it's easiest to simply block the users and threads. Doesn't fix the issue, but it may give peace of mind.

  15. Did they get unbanned? I was almost positive K got banned a few months ago

Sure, but that’s not really the point. The point is that this user has skated by for years doing this shit without facing any real consequences despite one of the purposes of this website to curtail a lot of the shit the user in question does.

Not to mention if someone who was in any of the abuse situations mentions stumbles upon this website and sees such posts it may be triggering to them.

They were temporarily banned. I have to assume more permanent actions will follow now.

    It's tough though because:
    1. if you block someone you still see everyone else responding to that person and as a result end up subjected to those same ideas in general still
    2. you can't report them for dumb stuff if you've blocked them

It's tough. That's just devil's advocate-ing though I suppose, in general I do lean towards blocking people I don't wanna see posts from but it's totally understandable to want a different solution too. I just don't know how good of one there is outside of that other than reporting and moving on. I don't think Jason can really change the way any of that works without there being a larger drawback.

.K. also just blocks anybody who disagrees with them and pushes back, so the only posts they never ever ever see the posts by others criticising them. truly the sites worst poster currently and should have gotten the ban hammer months if not more than a year ago.

What about blocking the threads though? If one decides to no longer listen to ng, std, kanye, etc. blocking threads seems like a fair option - that way the user isn't blocked (so reporting can happen in threads you do care to participate in). Users who don't see a reason to stop listening to problematic artists can have their own weird little space to discuss by themselves.

I have...thoughts...on the idea of "prevent conversations because they may be triggering to victims." Maybe because I feel I've had to overcome/get therapy from what I 100% consider mental/emotional abuse from a worldwide fucking religion that will never go away. My family, friends, online, etc will gush about the positivity and love that religion conveys. I feel strongly it does the opposite and it harms the lgbt community, families, spouses, children, etc. It's lead to suicides, depression, and divorce from close friends. I've had to heal in difficult ways and force my self to find ways to not mentally breakdown when I am inevitably surrounded by it and forced to listen to conversations about it. I fucking hate it. But in the end, I have no control over what those I associate with say and think. I can try and avoid the people if I want, but unfortunately for me - that's not an option right now.

    Rant over.

it is very simply, they are a harmful poster and should not have the privilege of using this forum.

I definitely agree with that, yeah. If it's not a subject you're wanting to interact with might as well block it.

I feel that, and maybe there's an alternate way to do something like that just to try and avoid the subject wherever it comes up that could be developed on here. I don't know though.
