I have a feeling they can *coalesce* something that'll work.

I have no issue if they are booked.. but I just don't think they will be

If there are more shows announced after, then my opinion could change.

Maybe if they Converge a few of the different metal scenes together for this year’s lineup, Botch would make a better fit (ok that’s it. Stick a fork in it. Done.)

The good news for riot fest with all of this recent competition is that they're still unique in the sense they're still more punk, old punk themed. Sure they get pop punk in there but it's not the main focus of the festival. The riot line up will always stick out.

been following that Destination Chaos fest, and they may be in a self-created pickle. this morning they announced that they are opening it up from 18+ to all ages and kids under 5 are free because in their words "we heard your feedback and giving you what you want!" and then now about 6 hours later all of the posts mentioning it are gone and the comments in their FB group are nothing but anger (rightfully so, buying a week long, international, all inclusive, 18+ vacation where the cheapest room is like 3K not including flight, and then months later being told kids can actually go now, and for free... id be pissed off too)
my wife and i were closer on pulling the trigger on it, but now gonna see how this situation shakes out first, haha

    nah.

my neighborhood page posted a photo of someone surveying/measuring a large area of a park near my house. had a Riot hoodie on. Riis Park, on the northside. hosts smaller fests like the Cuban fest. much nicer neighborhood. closer to O'hare though the only public trans here is by bus. closests train lines are Blue and Green, but you'd still have to take a 30 min bus ride

Hmm, this is definitely interesting. I looked up the park and it’s definitely a sizable park, seems big enough to hold Riot Fest. I just don’t know if they would ever hold a fest with no easy subway transportation nearby. Buses are much smaller and sometimes more inconsistent or unreliable.

LOL I wish, that's like 12-13 minutes from me and I won't have to go deeper in to the city

i think they've basically got to leave that park if they want to save face at this point, right?

  10. If it’s at Riis, I wonder if they would run constant shuttles down Fullerton from the Blue line or something like that.

a new competitor has entered the chat... so did the hype machine of WWWY possibly inspire a new wave of punkish rockfests?

  12. I'd be pretty happy if Riot Fest copy and pasted the bulk of that lineup.

Was thinking the same. Its a pretty good line up, I like 90% of those bands

agreed, great line, but why have that bonus line like that and not just have them in with the others?

This is such a sick lineup and in jealous of anyone that can hit this up

I assume that's an after show or pre-fest kick off or something. I can't recall seeing something like that on a lineup, I'm very interested

My guess is that line will be it’s own little tent somewhere or something and that’s why it’s separated

Two punk centric festivals in the same month in the same city seems like overkill to me, but whatever..

Hopefully these early lineups equals Riot giving us something (even if it's just one headliner) before the end of the year

After Bamboozle/Skate & Surf there really hasn't been an alt fest in the northeast. I'd love to have something annually I could bank on like Riot and/or Fest that didn't require flying. This will def be interesting once Bamboozle's lineup drops in the next few weeks

Andrew McMahon seems to be doing more festivals closer to his roots in the pop punk/emo scene, I’d love for him to do riot as any of his projects

This festival is being put on to be blatant and direct competition to Bamboozle. So yeah, it's a bit much but... There's a (petty) reason for it. Hah.

Yeah, there's absolutely nothing in the north east for anybody into alternative/indie/rock music. There's been a few attempts the last few years, but nothing that was smartly done or in a decent location.

Somebody tried starting a punk-centric festival in Providence that kinda tanked. There was an effort at one of the Wimmer-style active rock festivals in Maine that also tanked. Boston is effectively out of the question given lack of space unless you go outside of the city proper which would lead to its own challenges as far as hotels go...

So I'm with you. It's nice to have an option! So I hope they're both successful, TBH.

I hope they both go well too, I'm officially gonna do Adjacent & tbd on Bamboozle. Not northeast but still driveable, I've gotta make it to Pouzza sometime. Anyone in here been to both Pouzza & Fest, & are they somewhat comparable? They've always seemed to be
