Yeah 2002/2003 was when it seemed like a lot of the pop punk of the late 90s was giving way to the emo and goth punk sound bubbling just underneath. Plus you had the Brand News/TBS/etc that were bringing some of that post hardcore/screamo sound to the mainstream, and it all kind of culminated in that 2003-2005/6ish run of music from the scene that really captured that dark and brooding sound and/or lyrics. Alkaline Trio were wearing Black suits with red ties and releasing Good Mourning, Billie Joe dyed his hair black and put on some eyeliner and did a rock opera, MCR puts out Three Cheers and you've got pale long haired black and red under the eyes Gerard screaming he's not okay into the camera and doing choreography and preaching at a funeral, etc etc. Brooding was very much IN lol

I got untitled from a classmate in like 2004 as a burnt cd. To this day it's my favorite album of all time by a long shot.

When I transferred the songs from the burnt CD to my computer back then, they weren't named. Just track 1, 2, 3 etc.

So named them myself. Being a 13 year old German kid who was still more shaky with English than today, I just guessed what the songs must be called.

So for 1 or 2 years i only knew these songs by my names for them. I sadly only remember a few..

Feeling this = face in the summer
    Go = i don't wanna know
    I miss you = miss u
Asthenia = should i go back?

Yeah, I remember being so excited for the rollout of Alkaline Trio's Good Mourning. I had a professor in college who was also super stoked, and I would schedule office "advisement appointments" with him so we could listen to the new teases and tracks.

There was some podcast I listened to quite some time ago about Untitled where they discussed how the lyrics to Asthenia could easily be interpreted as Tom's conflicted attitude about the band. Weirdly, I'd never really given that any thought, but it does make sense. That take is especially interesting since you can watch the MTV Untitled documentary and hear that that song first had wildly different lyrics. I don't know, I'm not sure Tom was really that sophisticated of a lyricist, or if it was one of those scenarios where those feelings just kind of subconsciously manifested.

  6. Your top 50 only has 2 of my bottom songs, so I'd call that a win on both of our parts.

Didn't Tom say in his notes on the song in the album insert (another thing I loved about the album) that it's about an astronaut who's conflicted about whether or not he wants to come back to Earth?

I still can't believe how out of control these ticket prices are.

For what it's worth, I've been monitoring throughout the past couple of days and the resale prices have been going down. Not significantly, but still. I think patience will be the true winner here.

Tough to say if it is objectively the best song, but Edging is my personal favorite Blink single to introduce a new album since Untitled. Really digging it and super interested to see how it plays live.

It's a billion pages ago in this thread now but this "patience will get you lower ticket prices" is exactly what I was complaining about and how Ticketmaster fucks actual fans over.

Oh, you really like this artist and want to secure decent tickets when they go on sale and not wait until the week of the show - Okay, cool you can pay $100-250 more for your tickets. What a crock of shit and it should not be legal.

Tom’s latest Facebook/Instagram post >.< people don’t know the difference between writing together and tracking their parts separately, this gonna cause a ruckus

I've only listened to Edging two times in full. Really not trying to burn it out. Still not sticking out to me as "amazing" but my feelings are still 11/10 because Tom is back and the reunion hype is thriving.

I've listened to it once. Probably won't listen again until the album comes out tbh.

This record is going to blow if Mark doesn’t sit and help Tom dial in guitar tones for 12 hours straight

    Things have changed.

Love a BTS that focuses more on the director than the actual famous artists. But I admittedly have no clue who he is.

My assumption is that while they've been writing/recording for the past several months, they've barely been rehearsing, and wouldnt be prepared for a televised performance yet. I'd imagine they'll do the TV circuit early next year as they start prepping for those March shows.

Haven't been online all week so not sure if this was posted yet

    1. Travis hit up Cole Bennet less than a week before shooting to get the video done
    2. They didn't have a work permit 24 hours before shooting until the mayor of the city granted it to them
    3. They cut a float scene with the Blink Bunny

Kinda crazy how fast the music video had to come together. Normally, that would concern me that they were rushing into things but I actually think it speaks to how much Mark, Tom & Travis are on the same page right now which is exciting.

Still crazy that for the first big music video with Tom back it seems like they were kinda just winging it as they went, haha.

Would love to see this new contract that they signed with Tom.

Last I remember, he signed his rights away for the band.

I'm thinking this new contract includes a select number of tour dates, records, appearances, etc. and I'd love to see it.
