I don’t remember Feeling This getting any real negative backlash. Of course it was 19 years ago so maybe I’m wrong.

 

No him saying Tom’s demo album is good.

 

I remember Feeling This being the title song on Madden for my Game Boy Advance and it was like holy shit song vocals on my GBA lol

Yup I remember that performance on the roof in the freezing cold.

 

"endless summer" is the only good one on there. i haven't COMPLETELY lost it.

 

In Underoath's defense, they had to push back the release three months due to vinyl delays and needing physical and streaming numbers combined for their chart spot. And they performed the album in full a month before release on a livestream that in a lot of ways sounds better than the album itself. All things considered, they did the best they could.

 

I’m just happy Tom is back making blink money so he doesn’t have to be pushing his guitar in an empty shopping cart down the street. That was his rock bottom.

 

Oh i know. I don’t blame any of these bands for the long rollouts these days. It’s totally the norm and mostly out of their hands

 

UPDATE: I caved and purchased Mark's pink variant. My justification: having just enough money in Apple Cash to cover the purchase thanks to my recent Apple Watch and iPhone purchases on my Apple Card. I saw it as free money LOL.

 

Part of me wonders how much a lot of these people had heard blink or AvA before they heard Neighborhoods and what context that album holds for them. Because I know with a lot of Tom's stuff (that album included) he repeated himself a whole bunch. So yeah, "Snake Charmer" might sound cool in a vacuum, but he's reused that same riff countless times before so...it's not as cool if you are familiar with the other songs that sound exactly like it lol. "After Midnight", "Disaster", "Natives", etc. all have riffs that sound like versions of things he's done a million times before with blink or AvA.

 

I wasn’t on the internet much when Neighborhoods came out (I was happier lol) so it took me a few years to even realize they didn’t record it together

 

I've never really cared how they recorded it, the album is good

I was curious what people were saying so I listened to a few podcasts about the blink reunion/song and most of them retreading blink’s history hated Untitled back then and to this day. Wild.

 

Yeah, I do remember there was a backlash to Untitled when it first came out but I don't specifically remember it being directed at Feeling This. I think it was such a drastic change from TOYPAJ to Untitled it was jarring for some fans.

Luckily, I took Tom's advice on release day to smoke a joint and listen to the record in a dark room with headphones on and loved every minute of it.

 

Listened to Neighborhoods the day that Tom rejoined and then actually had an itch to listen again at work this week. Weird because it's usually a once-a-year listen for me at most.

I also shuffled Lifeforms immediately after and it's "WOW" in terms of how different Tom's voice is now. His register keeps dropping lower with age, haha. I just fully expect another round of "his voice isn't the same!" people upon release of the new album which will spark more sped-up or pitch corrected track takes.

 

It might be old news but I'd recommend this podcast to any Blink fan that hasn't heard it.

I feel like most of the people that I’ve seen that don’t like Untitled were/are long time fans pre-Dude Ranch that even have issues with Enema and TOYPAJ for being too polished/produced and not punk enough.
