I think this might be my favorite "The 1975." I mean very little beats the thrill of hearing the ILIWYS version for the first time but this one feels like a real song that I want to listen to out of context a lot

 

The ABIIOR one was definitely my fav until this new one

lemme tell you the three demos they combined into "the 1975" are real slappers

 

I love when they do Tape Notes! They also did episode 18 around A Brief Inquiry.

Hope they do a track by track with Radio X as well

 

The thing I hate about the 1975 “bit” is that it’s not a bit anymore. Either keep doing soft sound or just call it something else.

Naming the first song on every album “the 1975” even if they’re different songs is still a bit.

It’s funny cause all the reasons why they didn’t use the 1975 version in Brief still stand true in this version. He’s still singing over it. it just gets better in the back half where it opens up.

 

I prefer the last version - just end it with soft sound

disagree! to me, it still does the thing they've always said they wanted it to do. the difference is that whereas before it was meant to be kind of a sonic overture for where the band's at musically, this way's more of a thematic "here's where we're at" check in.

also the newest 1975 is the most “theatrical” 1975 song, it’s so cool

 

The "bit" is that they're just trying to fuck up everyone's last.fm stats

 

You literally (British accent) said what he said and I don’t buy it. How is this track a “check in” over any other song on here. If he wants a “Segaaaaa” than it should be that. Idk it’s not a big gripe, I just wish it was as consistent as the title suggests.

i've debating changing my tags for each album's version but i kinda like that "the 1975" is by far my most played song

the live versions of "part of the band" are sorely missing the fingerpicking in the "chorus" section
