The band opted in to dynamic pricing, they are aware and complicit in the high ticket prices.

You as an artist are given the option to opt in or out when announcing a tour with tickets being sold through Ticketmaster. If you opt out then tickets just stay at one price the whole time and IIRC there are no platinum tickets.

    Things have changed.

If they had done vinyl preorder codes (D2C personalized, not generic like this code was) and put a barrier to entry in, you'd likely have had a lot more people able to get tickets instead of scalpers.

would be hilarious - and vindicating - if the shows have low attendance despite everything “selling”

nearly all of this is the platinum pricing tickets. you’d constitute *this* as sold out?

i don’t think so, because from my understanding platinum pricing has nothing to do with total tickets left, rather just the demand. so despite them raising prices in nearly every section, that doesn’t mean the tickets are close to being sold out

I'm banking on reunion hype dying down and prices coming down to reasonable levels by the start of next year/closer to the show. Even MCR came down to a (relatively) reasonable price by the time the shows rolled around. And if blink announces some more festivals and stuff that will help. (Specifically for Chicago, if they get announced for Lolla)

2 tickets in the GA pit in Boston are more than my mortgage.

FWIW i hope none of this is coming off as argumentative with anyone. just speaking from frustration and probably echoing many thoughts and feelings of others here

just crappy situation right now, gotta imagine it will get better over the course of the next few weeks or so

I now actually feel lucky for getting decent tickets for MSG & Barclays for $210-275/ea during the presale on Wednesday.

Actually zoom in and show how many tickets are left now. The dark blue is behind the stage/last sellable seats. So yes, it's basically sold out.

Yeah, the unique codes things is what I had in mind. I was just thinking of basically any way to reserve affordable tickets to people who are actually fans wanting to come to the show and not a bunch of scalpers looking to raise the prices. Just seemed like it would have been a good opportunity since they've already done vinyl pre-orders. Like, theoretically you could still resell your ticket, but you would have at least bought a fairly pricey item from them already in order to do so.

I'm actually kinda surprised there wasn't a D2C presale, at least with the T-shirts they launched with the announcement.

If the tickets are cheaper than the "standard" pricing next year then you prove the free market works, if not then it's a sham.

Let's do some economic theory based on blink 182 ticket sales.

absolutely insane. i don’t think there’s any band worth that much but to each their own if someone cashes in on that
