I hate discord. I cannot figure it out. Im too old, and can't be bothered.

That's kind of the point - I think fans wanted to feed back that this is really poor from TM, and bands need to know. But they basically shut their down and in turn it makes Mark look bad, even though he's not seeing it.

It just seems unlikely bands truly understand the experience of fans buying tickets under TM's current approach. They might hear "we'll sell some premium tickets" and not think much else of it etc.

I think most of us figured everyone involved are ok with things.

Now that we're talking Matt again, is this the place for me to voice my preference for Dan's Alk Trio songs? He won me over long ago with his wonderful delivery of the line, "And when you're only 23 it's not attractive to complain about your sore back" on My Standard Break from Life. I could relate.

    lol

This is what I suspect happened with Springsteen when his fans found the dynamic pricing on his shows.

I do think some bands are aware of this - and for what it's worth, I do think Blink is a band that has always maximized their opportunities to make as much money as possible, as is their right. I'd rather bands directly take money from their fans instead of using companies as a boogeyman. It's a business; get paid, yall.

Fans being displeased with ticket prices is not noise. It's important to discuss.

The dirty secret in the industry is that the bands LIKE these set-ups as they get the revenue vs some scalper. However, a lot of acts still have to appear to be sympathetic to the blue collar class. Additionally, as much as people hate to hear this, most shows have been under-priced for many years. RATM made a, albeit altruistic, effort to keep all tickets at $150 max and then saw them being resold for 2-3x that. If that's what tickets ultimately go for price-wise, that's what should be charged.

At this point, there isnt much that can be said, from the band. No matter what he says, it can get twisted around to either side.

    Give what you can.

I totally get desire for this given the high ticket prices and longer shows played by some of their peers, but the dude is over 50 and was battling cancer this time last year. I'd much, much, much rather he stayed within his comfort zone.

"It's meant to discourage scalping" is the key point here. It's all based on an algorithm, there's not some evil genius monitoring ticket sales and hiking up the price. The program is simply written to increase price for areas that are in demand. At its core, the practice isn't inherently band as brokers might think twice about buying $400 tickets if they don't think the value will increase significantly but it does give people that shows are artificially priced lower than they really are thus the frustration.

The whole thing really is ridiculous. I mean, I'm just showing my frustration/protesting by just not going and not buying a ticket. Fuck it. It sucks that that's what it comes down to though. I don't want people to NOT go (nor do I want that for the band), but if people continue buying up all of these tickets at absolutely absurd prices, then I really don't expect much to change.

Edging is growing on me. Still kind of absurd and surreal that I'm listening to new blink music with Tom DeLonge in 2022. Happened so fast!
