There was worry that infection and/or vaccination would “imprint” on our immune systems, where it would make it harder for our immune systems to recognize new variants because it would assume they were the OG virus and pump out those antibodies, thus not giving us Immunity to variants. I think he’s saying this study is showing people who were “double primed” aka exposed to old variants twice still were less likely to get infected with the new variants. So the hope is that means previously infected (or vaccinated) people had at least some immunity to new strains
