My thing is Urban had reputation and success and expectations. Anyone thinking Hackett was only marginally more prepared than you or I just wasn't paying attention

idk I feel the same about Urban Meyer. Big time “where there’s smoke there’s fire” situation. He just so obviously was every bad coach trope that he seemed like he was from the outside. I at no point felt good about that hire

 

He at least had success elsewhere. Obviously he had flaws too but he at least was successful elsewhere. It was a dumb bet but I can at least see how Khan was dumb enough to make that bet. With Hackett what're you betting on? That he was faking incompetence? Idk haha

 

Urban was also coaching an abysmal team with a SUSTAINED period of being abysmal...taking over a 1-15 team versus a 7-10 team, and having a rookie QB versus a (supposedly) elite veteran QB.

That a team with those WRs, RBs, and QB has put up 11, 12, 16, and 16 points in games is absurd. Like, the Steelers have an atrocious QB situation and have outscored them nearly every week
