    Got a light?

This gets better every listen, I liked the last few albums but this is the return of me actually feeling an emotional response to their music which was missing with the last few releases

Very impressed with this, best album in a while from them, easily

  3. This album is excellent, like the rest of their discography. Yes, even Codes & Keys has some bangers

I personally think Codes and Keys is great so I never got the hate for it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Heard Roman Candles in May and wasn’t crazy about it, kinda dropped expectations and honestly forgot this even came out. Just finished a listen thanks to all the chatter about it and am super fucking impressed. After Foxglove I turned to my girlfriend and went “I uhh didn’t know they could do that anymore” lol

The singles are really good and that opener is killer but the rest I still need to digest. I do know I like I Miss Strangers up til the end of the album though.

    And they're all on TYFT.

This just keeps getting better with every listen. I have always been of the belief that more bands should incorporate that signature Explosions guitar tone.

Going back to revisit Narrow Stairs, a record I probably haven’t listened to in 15 years.

Realizing that I like TYFT a lot more than most people, haha. I do think this album is better, especially in terms of how they're using dynamics and production as key strengths again. But Ben's melodies on that album really work for me. Maybe two songs on that record I don't love.

Yep, this album is hitting me really hard. Pepper, I Miss Strangers, and Asphalt Meadows are so great.

Combining the "passable" tracks on TYFT and all of the absolute gems from the Blue EP would have made a much more compelling release.

    Kids in '99
    Man in Blue
    I Dreamt We Spoke Again
    Summer Years
    Before the Bombs
    Autumn Love
    When We Drive

I'm actually just realizing now how weak their album closers are (to me). The only two I'd back are A Lack of Color & I'll Never Give Up on You. DCfC is typically an "in with a roar out with a whimper" band for me I guess.

Ranking closers is damn near impossible for me. Literally the only closer I don't like is Binary Sea. I also think I'd rank them differently as songs vs. closers. Don't even want to try. Have at it.

I like most of their closers but yeah, I agree that the best songs on their albums are usually the penultimate ones and the last songs feel more like epilogues.

Great way to put it. I honestly forgot Stable Song existed until I made the post earlier for that very reason. I always stop Plans after Brothers.

    Things have changed.

OK, I was very out on them after Narrow Stairs, but this record rules.

    @Mary V & @Dog Fish

think ya'll are also big mwY fans too. Tell me you don't think about the recent Farewell Tour when Ben speaks "for what's a funeral without flowers?" in Foxglove.

“Stable Song” is gorgeous and one of Gibbard’s best vocal performances. Love that song. Really like “60 & Punk” too.

Yeah Stable Song is easily my favourite closer of theirs and one of my favourite Death Cab songs in general.
