  1. I finally decided to get started on The Dark Tower series. I’m almost done with The Gunslinger and loving it.

  2. This is dope, I did something similar and bought cheaper copies that are a little worn. But the vintage covers are too cool. This is the version of The Gunslinger I found.

Want to go back to something more horror after I finish Dead Zone and October rolls around. Any suggestions? So far I've read It, Pet Sematary, The Shining, and Salem's Lot.

Christine is pretty classic horror. Cujo also. Revival if you wanted to try something more recent. The Desperation/Regulators read is a blast too, but that's moving away from your more classic horror vibes.

imo the scariest book he's written is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, but that's because it takes place in the woods. I don't know if I would necessarily call it an "October" read though

Also feel like I should mention the Long Walk if you want something more psychological.

The Dark Half. I'm gonna keep saying this until someone reads it.

One day I will read The Dark Tower series. Didn’t realize it was 8 books - woof.

Dark Tower is like almost all heaters, there's a dip at Wolves/Song of Susannah but they're still plenty readable

I actually enjoyed Wolves of Calla but definitely did not enjoy Songs of Susannah. I remember actively disliking the obvious parts of it and kind of just wish that didn’t happen lol

It still didn’t take away from this being my favorite book series and probably my favorite overall story.

The Dark Tower series means a lot to me. My favorite is The Drawing Of The Three followed by Wizard and Glass, just incredible. I’d rank them.. Drawing of 3 > Wizard & Glass > The Dark Tower > The Gunslinger > The Wastelands > Wolves of the Calla > Song of Sussanah. I still haven’t read the later released The Wind Through The Keyhole but intend to next time I reread the series.

Some of the dialogue has been a bit cheesy, but I am enjoying Fairy Tale so far. Only about 20 pages in though and I'm excited to see where it goes!

Just finished Dead Zone. I thought it was fantastic, not my favorite that I've read so far, but maybe the best. Picked up Skeleton Crew for October, although I'm thinking maybe Night Shift would've been a better choice. Also grabbed Something Wicked This Way Comes to read for the first time after being interested for a long time, but recently reading Bradbury was a big influence on King.

I very much wish that I had read Something Wicked This Way Comes before Fairy Tale, it's clearly heavily inspired by it.
