This is especially true if you have a 2-stage system that can run at high and low. Once it's at a temp it can go into low to maintain that temp, whereas to drop the temp it needs to kick into high and run continuously.

When I was searching for a new apartment earlier this year, a dishwasher was a must for me. I never want to go back to cleaning everything by hand.

  6. My electric bill was 350 bucks last month. Granted it's been the hottest summer ever it seems and NJ electric prices seem higher than average. I hate how the cost of electricity is cheap but the delivery charges are what kill you.

A pretty strange/shitty thing I noticed here in Oslo - barely any place has a dryer machine; they have washers, but most people forgo the dryer machine and air rack dry instead

Are you able to sign up for a plan where your bill stays pretty much the same throughout the year? This is what I've always done, they average your electricity use and set a monthly price and readjust that every 3/6/12 months depending on the plan. Makes it much easier to budget and if you overpay during a time you get a credit and if you underpay, that gets spread out among your upcoming bills.

So do I, that's why I keep the house at a reasonable temperature. If I wanted to freeze I would go back to the office.

Everyone talking about their central air can eat a brick. Went to spend the day at my parents while they were out of town to soak in some central AC and when we got back to our apartment it was 89 degrees inside, so hot that the compressor in our portable AC overheated and wouldn't turn on. Turns out trying to sleep in when it's almost 90 in your home is not fun. This heatwave will be my demise.
