Could very well still be a banger, and that's just an acoustic rendition. I hope it's a big one, they seem to have momentum on their side, and I think they need another big pop rock hit.

 

Considering how high I hold LLL and XOXO up I’m very stoked to see what they do next.

 

Love this band but really hope this is not just an acoustic filler tune/one off.

Valley is also VERY popular in their own right (arguably more "internet" success, but The Maine have way more longtime fans). They sold out Irving Plaza (1200ish cap?) after upgrading from Bowery Ballroom on their headliner this past February.

The Maine would be smart to keep touring with Valley and other similar younger acts like Nightly.

Hoping that this is setting up the next album! XOXO really has dropped off. I like a few songs, but it just lacks the dynamics that You Are OK, and LLL had. XOXO is way too 'chorus heavy' to be something that resonates still. It's fun, but I'm hoping for something that reaches deeper next.

 

I like "Loved You a Little" more than anything on XOXO, except maybe "Lips", to be honest. That album was a huge cliff dive compared to You Are OK for me. I like it well enough, but not even in the same ballpark as the previous three.

 

I like the record as a whole quite a bit, but it’s nowhere near the level of LLL for me personally. You Are Ok slots in well below both of them.

It’s time to drop the extended version of “Love In Real Time”

 

In retrospect after all of this time, this song is my favorite on the album. The Colby effect continues

 

Unrelated mostly but I am just now finding out that John co-wrote “In Violet” with Grayscale. Damn. That song is so good.

 

I thought xoxo was great and I have it more like LLL, Xoxo, pioneer, Yao.

just personal preference though, obviously. I think Yao is well written just not really my style.

Ah fuck I somehow forgot AC haha…I don’t know where I put that one. It’s good though. The Maine are too prolific at this point for this

 

How tf is YAO so much lower across the board with most people? It is way more musically interesting and dynamic than XOXO, which is significantly more rote. And I like XOXO.
