You're Next might be my favorite movie of all time.

I knew you loved it, but didn't realize how much.

I think its the movie I've watched more than anything. There is seriously just so much to love about it.

  6. You're Next had diminishing returns for me, unfortunately, but the third act is a fucking ripper

I could go for a You're Next/The Guest double feature.

I did the guest recently and enjoyed it way more than I initially did

A friend posed an interesting question to me.

If they ever did either, would you prefer a sequel or remake of Halloween 3?

I said a remake. Make the story smaller stakes, like only one town's kids are going get their faces melted off, not the entire country. Set it in the Midwest, not California. Maybe actually involve a witch. Could be as fun as the original.

Of all the Halloween films, 3 is the one I thought was always the most appropriate to reimagine. It always sort of sat on its own anyway. Being tied to the franchise is what hurt it more than anything else. Launching it to a new audience as a stand-alone film could be dope. Sorry for the rambling my kid is singing the frozen soundtrack into my ear.

  12. Idk, I think it's too bizarre and unique to be remade any better (or worse lol) than it already exists. It's batshit and I don't think that can be topped. But I DO want an equally batshit follow-up.

Fair enough. Call me crazy, but I can almost see it taking the A24 indie route by really capturing a niche audience. I don’t know…just spitballing here.

  14. Currently watching The Body and this one stinks. The only Into the Dark movie I've really enjoyed is The Pilgrim, iirc. Is I'm Just Fucking With You worth a watch?

Pure, Midnight Kiss, and My Valentine are the ones that I like from the Into the Dark series. The soundtrack from My Valentine rules.

Watched The Woman, what an awful, thoroughly unpleasant movie that I couldn’t recommend less.

This is the Jack Ketchum story right? Along with Offspring and now The Girl Next Door, I can say that I am completely uninterested in any of his work or adaptations for the most part.

I couldn’t keep it straight, I think it’s in a trilogy loosely based off his books. But yeah I’d avoid this at all costs.

The Woman is the sequel to Offspring and The Girl Next Door is a completely separate narrative. But yes, agreed!

  22. Wish I hadn't watched The Girl Next Door. Not my kind of horror (and, unfortunately, based on a true story). Truly harrowing and awful stuff.

Agreed 100% and the true account of what happened put me in a pensive mood all day. Just don't understand why something like that would need to be fictionalized like it was.

I'm gonna try to watch one good one tonight before doing no scare September to really build up movies for October. Love doing fun dumb stuff.
