I had this same thought about the Alexisonfire show too. For the Turnover show, though, looking around the city: HOB, the Paradise, and Sinclair all have shows booked that night already. Those are the venues I'd assume they play at...

Kinda wondering if Roadrunner is just booking acts on some nights they know will draw decently well, even if it's only at like, 30-50% capacity. Just keep some of the bars closed, maybe don't open the upstairs, etc. There's ways to do it and make it look full with the way that venue is set-up.

This was a coheadliner in 2019 (?). Pretty wild in hindsight. The people there for only Turnover did not know what to think. I had a blast though

These are all over the place. It's interesting that they are playing two shows in CO as well. Fort Collins and Denver are not that far apart. I regularly go to both for shows (and assume others do too) so I feel like they're just splitting their audience into two nights here.

Interesting read on the Bruce Springsteen ticket fiasco, dynamic pricing and premium tickets:

Baby, Those Tickets Were Born to Run

"Adds a prominent artist manager of dynamic pricing, “The technology now allows artists to be so much smarter about all of this. Fans don’t understand it, but who would they rather have that money? The artist? Or some fat dude in his living room scalping tickets for a living?” Says an agent working with multiple arena-level tours, “This is 100% the artist’s decision to make, but Ticketmaster does a very good job volunteering to be the villain.” "

Its not like Platinum tickets are making scalpers to go away. Scalpers are still there and platinum tickets are just making harder for fans to get tickets. For Phoebe Bridgers tour I got a GA pit ticket cheaper (still above face value ofc) from verified resale than platinum ticket.

I've been thinking the concert bubble will explode eventually as its getting more expensive and hard to buy tickets, and with the ammount of tours happening and hitting a city on the same day. But unfortunately is small bands that will get affected the most.

On Nov 18th I have to pick between 5 different shows in NYC/Jersey: The Higher, Origami Angel, Mat Kerekes, The Dangerous Summer, & Four Year Strong. All 5 are can't miss shows for me, & I can't be the only person in the area having to pick which small artist to give my money to that day specifically but also many other days like this in the near future

Riot Fest is the same day as Panic with Beach Bunny and then Blackbear with waterparks and heart attack man. Im sure this is killing a certain demographic.

And how many of these arena show tickets that HAVE sold were bought by bots/scalpers???

    idk man

Had this same issue, I'm personally doing Origami on the 18th and Four Year Strong on the 19th at Webster Hall. It's crazy how stacked that weekend is in New York

I feel like some of those can be merged into a bigger show instead of making fans pick.

I think Beach Bunny is not playing Chicago which is weord as its their home city. But yeah, these shows are bands that one way or another have shared fanbases with Riot attendees.

Beach Bunny is too good for this band but also I think playing the day after MCR is a huge mistake for them.

Last year my girlfriend also caught COVID at a Rise Against show. Their first show back in a 350 cap room in Cleveland and her first show. Luckily, her and I are fully vaccinated so it wasn’t too bad minus she had minor lost of taste and stuffed up. I did not get it. I was upset for her and wished it was me just because I didn’t want her to have to go through it.

The local show here (Cuyhoga Falls / Cleveland) last night was the same. Both Logic and Wiz have fell away off in popularity.

Logic is now 2 for 2 in the worst attended shows I’ve ever seen at Blossom Music Center and I’ve been to probably 200+ shows there since 2002.

Does anyone know how Ticketmaster determines prices for a show? I want to go see Florence + The Machine this weekend in Toronto but face value on the tickets is like $150 CAD for a mid-level amphitheater ticket (probably 30% of the tickets are unsold) yet the show in Quebec tonight has face value tickets for $48 CAD in a comparable spot.

How is there a $100+ face value difference between two cities in equivalent sized venues that are both far from sold out?

Ticketmaster doesn't determine the price of a show, the artist's agent and promoter/venue does. Toronto is a far bigger city than Laval so they can charge more. Also from what I see, Toronto is 16k and Laval is 8k, is that not correct? Bigger venue means more overhead.
