According to Twitter, Ryan Smith handled the remaster.

 

AG was on the Brooklyn Vegan podcast this week.

They were talking bout the title, Boom Done. He said that at one point he was planning to not be around when the album came out.

Then said he will either not be doing more solo stuff or will take take a long break to focus on other bands.

in talking about MeWithoutYou he said, "They shouldn't break up, they should just take a little bit of time, play every couple years, play once a year."

Wonder if that is kind of how Circa's thought process is?

He was asked about Circa and he said they were taking a break. But he had high hopes for the next Circa material.

He said the Sao songs they are working on is all heavier than anything else he has done. Said he wanted to make sure it sounds different than any of his other projects.

Also not sure which thread the argument was in about Saosin vs TBS vs Thursday vs Coheed. But he says Saosin was just him trying to rip off Geoff Rickley and Claudio and that's how it came out.

For the last 18 years Circa has been the center of our lives as well as our full time jobs & primary source of incomes. Transitioning out of this with zero notice has been challenging logistically and emotionally to say the least but your support has been absolutely vital & appreciated more than you will ever know.

The Patreon has been one of the most beautiful, inspiring and “successful” experiments of our entire time as musicians and we can’t thank you enough for being a part of it.

We are still having internal discussions about what to do with the Discord server so there will be at least one more post about this and of course also posts in the server itself.

That sounds like they are done...at least in the near future. Sad how it went down with a 10 year tour being cancelled and just never played another show.

Hopefully 2023 gives some room for them to come back together but it's not sounding great.

Call me an optimistic but to me it sounds like they're very intentionally not saying the band is done. Maybe this is just the lead up to a more formal announcement, but until that comes I'm just taking this as a hiatus.

 

Wouldn't personally trade any of Anthony's other projects combined for circa. Pretty gutted by this and I just couldn't care less about L.S.Dunes in particular. I guess this is the risk of working with such a volatile front man. I really feel for the guys

 

I don’t have access to the full statement but is it really fair to blame Anthony for the band taking a break?

 

Didn’t they cancel the tour because they said he couldn’t do it and then he announced a solo tour like a week later or something?

Frankly the press announcments related to the BSN tour cancellation were already very gracious and empathetic towards Anthony. I dont think its unreasonable to assign the lion's share of the blame to him based on what we know now. The reality seems to be that everyone was left on the hook in the wake of his crisis. Im finding it tough to know how to feel now with all these current and planned releases and tours in the barrel. The word that comes to mind is selfish.

 

We got more from the Patreon than I ever dreamed. Truly cool

 

Let's just cool down here. Seems very premature to be making this about Anthony's character when we only have scraps of information at the moment.

 

Selfish? Selfish that he had a relapse and had to cancel a tour a few months after he literally had died from drugs? We really don’t know what happened during that time, but we know he wasn’t the only member of circa battling with drugs. There are so many things you can speculate but the reality is, at this time we don’t have enough information.

 

I rejoined the patreon to see the message and I suppose this could just mean they are done with the Patreon and not necessarily going on a hiatus. It might just be they aren't in position to make more content for it at this time and they don't want it sitting there with active subs with an expectation of regular posts.

I think it's pretty reasonable at this point to infer there's some kind of conflict or hard feelings within the band. The evidence would seem to point toward other member(s) being upset with Anthony, but who knows.

 

Didn't Anthony just edit his IG post about LS Dunes where he originally said, "Nice to make music with people who don't hate me." ?

 

I think that's extremely optimistic, to say the least lol.

It sounds like there will be a formal announcement, but I doubt that's guaranteed either. Taking a punt, judging by Anthony's comments on the podcast mentioned in previous posts, and his general optimism around projects, that he's perhaps the one holding out on not breaking up. But he's obviously in a privileged position of lots of other successful projects now (Saosin + LS Dunes + solo can't be sniffed at..).

 

Fucking gutted even though this wasn't a huge surprise at this point.

im certain yall are over reacting on the patreon post.

to me it seems like a soft confirmation of a hiatus and a further confirmation that the patreon is done for now too. as previously discussed in this thread, circa actually has been on multiple unannounced but still very real multi year hiatuses before. they generally have done it between almost every single release of theirs.

 

Anthony said on the podcast that the band is taking a break so whether they officially announce a hiatus or not, it basically confirms what I thought was going on…which is they are taking a break.

I mean, I’m sure Anthony’s year has been scheduled long in advance. It’s not like he got out of rehab, hit up Tim Kasher and Laura Jane Grace, and got his team to book all those venues for a tour immediately upon getting out. It was likely planned in advance.

The BSN tour was likely the only thing Circa had immediately planned for this year while Anthony would be busy with his solo work, Saosin, and LS Dunes (and maybe The Sound Of Animals Fighting?). I’m guessing that the band isn’t going to be doing much and maybe we’ll hear from them again in 2023. I’m sure the band is still reeling from the tour getting cancelled, which is why they’ve all likely needed to make an income in other ways because they were likely relying on that for that period of time and didn’t receive any of it, causing their lives to be altered immediately rather than anything planned. Just my guess.

I’m still not inferring from the post that they are “breaking up” or whatever. Bands go on breaks all the time and this band has done so before. I’m sure we’ll hear from them again soon enough, even if they aren’t in a great place right now. I’m keeping the candle lit.
