No. Full collapse and tell all your friends had been out for 1-2 years already and had much wider success to lay the blueprint for the singing and screaming fad that followed in emo music.

I love translating the name, one of the best eps ever but come on.. Juturna is such a massive debut!

I think I like Juturna more than OLG, TTN never did anything for me. Always found Saosin boring.

Truth is the truth!! Started off as a pale Anthony imitation then when he came into his own, turns out his own want good either. Seems like a really amazing dude though, only have heard great things about him as a person

  10. Steve's posts still suck, Steve is not a good poster. :upside:

Has anyone been brave enough and dumb enough to rank every Anthony-related album? Even the thought make my head spin, but this is chorus...

@sophos34 Thursday came first but I would take Anthony’s worst songs over tone Geoff’s best any day.

we were talking about influence, not your personal taste (thursday and circa are like, 2 of my top 3 favorite bands ever) and way more people heard full collapse than heard TTN. people on this website way overstate the reach that EP had outside of scene circles. no one knew who saosin even was until you're not alone hit alt radio. plus theres no way saosin wasnt directly influenced by thursday lol every scene band on earth cited them as an influence after FC

Many bands that surpassed or matched Saosin’s popularity right after TTN in 03 cite it as influence. Outside of Thursday, I would say the only other band really garnering a following on their own with that sound then was FFTL.

Not that any of these bands really hold weight from an influential or popular standpoint now, but the boom from 04 onward with bands like Chiodos, Receiving End Of Sirens, Boys Night Out, Scary Kids, Emery, Silverstein and many others cited it as such or just have very obvious influence by it.

But not gonna say that its just TTN. Very much accumulative of all of those monumental releases at that time from bands starting off (Saosin - TTN, FFTL - Aesthetic, Thursday - Full Collapse, The Used S/T)

TAYF was pretty huge. it reached my ears in the midwest as a 10 year old. certainly bigger than TTN

I’d keep juturna because it’s maybe my favorite record ever.

But TTN was fucking massive when it came out. Atleast in California. Super influential and buzz worthy. Also still bangs.

juturna has held up better and benefits from the lack of screaming / intelligible lyrics (mostly)

no one in TBS, Thursday, Coheed etc are as consistent of songwriters as Anthony is and I would choose Translating the Name over some artists entire discographies…except circa. maybe. i really love that ep.
