A quick look at setlist.fm shows that they have definitely played it over the years. I misheard him. He said something about 03 and 04.

Okay, so Stephen did say that rarely if ever have played Atonement. They have played it for a live audience twice. I was there both times. Last night and their “final” show in 2014 where they played it for the first time.

Also, I took video of Godspeed, Whisper & Clamor, and Reclusion. But my awful singing is present in all of them. I’m not sure anyone wants to hear that. But I’ll post one if someone wants to check them out. Then you can just go into my channel for the other 2.

I know I’m a little late, but after sitting with the new EP for a while, I’m really happy with it. I think industrial ambient rock Anberlin works really well and my favorite track keeps on changing. I feel like the mixing is a little bit weird and muffled in the same way Lowborn was, but I can get over it.

Also, I recently did a discography dive and realized the connection between A Day Late and No Love To Speak went over my head for so long lol.

Didn't even go over my head cuz I had no idea there was a connection lol. What is it?

Reminded me that those deluxe Vital songs exist. Desperately need that on vinyl.

Also curious to hear this connection?

i would do terrible things for Devotion on vinyl. idk if Republic and Big3 can work a deal for it to happen, but i'd love it if they do.

the alternative could be a Lost Songs II with everything from their Republic/Big3 era (would also love Lost Songs on vinyl, but clearly that'll be T&B's decision).

I’m pretty sure both songs are about the same event/girl. Lyrics kinda describe the same situation of wanting a person for a while, moving on and building new things (“new worlds beside me”), and then the person coming back, but it’s too late (“I missed you. I don’t miss you at all”).

Although it’s a little more angry than A Day Late

How good is Asking off the new EP.

Top-tier Anberlin for me and an instant classic.

Got to see them with my girlfriend yesterday in Brooklyn at the Knitting Factory.
Band was on fire,Stephan was all smiles and Christian was spinning around like it’s 2006.Snagged the setlist.
We got to chat Christian (what a cool dude) after show for a big chunk of time and he says that new songs that are ready for the new album and heavier than anything they done before.
    STOKED.

You know if he was specifying a full-length album or just the next EP? I'm stoked either way, but I'm puzzled why they'd release another EP instead of holding off for a proper album if they're planning on combining the songs anyway.

    It’s two EP’s

with potential for full length encompassing the EP songs on a full album. They wanted to test releasing songs at a more frequent rate rather than a more traditional album approach

Doesn't two EPs essentially equal an LP? Why not put out one EP as hype for a full-length instead of two EPs and then an anticlimactic secondary release for a full LP with one or two added songs?

I just don't buy that EPs are a better promotional model for a band of Anberlin's magnitude. A proper comeback LP seems like it would gain so much more hype. And it would certainly be a better move artistically for anyone who still cares about LPs.

Let it be known, I'm just stoked my favorite band is back either way. And I adore this new stuff. This is less a diatribe against Anberlin and more a general statement on the underselling of the full-length. It just bums me out when people treat the LP experience as dispensable in the name of a business model (especially when it's not necessarily a better model) and don't acknowledge there's a difference in experience between LPs and EPs.

But I get wanting to experiment with something new too.
