Yeah if I tried to write what this band means to me it would end up as a short book. An impossible task.

 

Having said that, @Garrett wrote such a good write up on ACB’s Son I Loved You that I have full confidence.

You can do it, just be you. I don’t think you can be too personal here. They’re a personal band, that’s why we are moved by the music and lyrics.

 

just really sunk in today that the philly date is in a few weeks. can’t believe i’m saying goodbye soon

 

I think i need to get a ticket for this final show. I have easily seen them the most out of anybody and the beginning of the end shows were wonderful.

This perfectly encapsulates something that I've been almost troubled by in the months, weeks and now days leading up to their final farewell. It feels like I should have something to say about my favourite band calling it a day. It feels like I should have shed tears when I saw them play live for the last time, as I was expecting to. But at the end of the day, it just doesn't feel like goodbye yet. Maybe because I still have the livestreams. Maybe because I'm anticipating at least two more editions of mewithoutYou Midnight Madness for the collector's editions for Pale Horses and [Untitled]. But maybe, just maybe, it's because I know it isn't the end, because I'll carry this band with me forever. And I know, a few years from now, I'll probably fervently wish for one last album, one last song, one last show. And that feeling might never go away either. But it also can't take away the past, present or future I'll always have with this band, these songs, these albums.

This entire post encapsulates what I was trying to say in some way or another. I've seen Thrice and Underoath both break up and come back, so part of me still can't fathom what a "final farewell" would feel like. I don't think mewithoutYou want to close that door either, but they definitely seem to be closing it for now.

 

The Chicago date of the farewell tour didn't feel like the end. I'm going to have to pay for one of the streams and watch it after the fact given some other plans i have going this weekend. Me thinks it'll hit me while i'm faded and by myself watching in my living room

Loved reading Dan Pishock’s insights there and how he rediscovered the demos. He was playing the bass the first two times I saw them in the UK.

Those were my exact thoughts too. I'd add Rainbow Signs as a third pick, just because the chaotic build in the middle followed by Aaron quietly closing out the song and then the band walking offstage would be perfect. Not that I've thought about this at all...

 

Flying out to Philly veryyyyy early on Friday, I am so damn excited.
