Somewhat related note, I just re-watched the Urethra Chronicles 2...the last 10 minutes is painful to watch after seeing how things panned out

I'll take a better live sound over unfunny dick jokes from forty somethings any day. (Yes, I realize the 'joke' songs are still in the setlist).

Last time I saw them with Tom had the same amount of interaction as when I saw them with Skiba.

I wasn't saying I'd prefer Tom being in the band, as I fully recognize this was the natural progression based on how things went down. I'm saying that the current state of the band doesn't stand up compared to the prime days of Blink. And there's nothing wrong with that. However, it explains the lack of excitement.

My post also wasn't supposed to come off as condescending as it may have. My bad!

Thats how I felt, I dont know if it was just because I wasnt expecting much out of it or what....but probalby the most fun I have ever had seeing them. Another friend of mine didnt have as good of time, and he's just as big of blink fan. Everyone around me literally sang every song on top of their lungs and was just fun to be around. Hope you have at least half as much fun as I did! I will say i was also a person skeptic about Skiba making it sound like a cover band, but being there live, with the lights and production and just how god damn good they sounded.......i wouldnt have wanted to hear it any other way

I was so into the album that I was kind of burnt out by the time my show came around. But after, I would have gone to see them again if it was feasible. It flies by without the banter but how good they sounded more than makes up for the forced-rapport on stage between Mark and Tom. I'm older and I'm totally fine with a tighter, more focused version of blink. I'll always have Mark Tom and Travis show if I want to listen to their natural banter at it's peak. So I'm still firmly in the "don't miss Tom" camp, show did nothing to change that. Really looking forward to where they go on subsequent albums (don't start with me Tom people, we've beat that topic into the ground lol.)

I think this tour is too long. As it keeps going they seem less and less inspired and into it. Really feels like they're trying to make as much as possible because they know the next tour with Skiba won't do half as well. Currently reading "Sekret Machines" and the first chapter is more imaginative and inspiring than anything on Califor-n-ia. Still can't get over how atrocious that title track is.

Also why has there been no push for "she's out of her mind"

I kind of liked the record when it came out but I think that was me forcing it on myself. After two months I haven't gone back to it and feel no desire to do so. Break up for good or bring back Tom.

Nope, just a hardcore blink fan since 1997 who can't deal with how shitty this new version is anymore.

    Things have changed.

Isn't it crazy how if you don't ADORE Skiba in this band, you're labeled a Tombot?

    Talk about exhausting.

I listend to the new album for a few weeks straight. After revisiting it this week for the first time since July, i'm enjoying it more. Made myself a sweet playlist with new Blink, TBS, and JEW (the two new songs and a few from Futures).

Or you can just accept that Tom doesn't want to do blink (he blew off recording three times and he doesn't even want to tour with his OWN passion project AVA), and let the people that enjoy this current lineup continue to enjoy it, and you can go on your merry way and continue to enjoy Tom's imaginative fiction stories.

I still like this album but I've come to the point that I wouldn't be bothered if I could never listen to it in full again

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I wonder what activity will be like in the blink camp for the rest of 2016 when this tour is over. I could see them playing some holiday radio shows in December. Maybe an announcement for the release of the b-sides EP.

I don't anticipate much from Alkaline Trio for the rest of the year. Dan is pretty booked with Emergency Room and The Falcon tour dates.

Probably rush out an EP of b-sides and do some big holiday fests to make even more $$$

Yeah hopefully they put out that EP. Not sure if they will tour outside of a random show or two. Next summer they're headed for Europe for another massive tour so they might just take things slow and relax a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if Skiba is going to head into the studio with Alkaline Trio in the beginning of next year to record a new record either.

  20. We also got that hint of a "Making of California" documentary or something a few days ago. I wonder if they'll re-release California to include a documentary DVD and b-side bonus tracks, instead of an actual separate EP.

Rush out? If they put out the EP, it would be songs that they already fully recorded and left off the album. What are they rushing exactly?

Skiba has said he was going to start writing for the Trio record after touring was done. Idk what Dan and Derek's schedules are with that tour they're doing.
