Bob Rock rules but i dont think Blink tempos are slow enough for his style of compression

I would love to see the ratio between people that loved Nine but want Feldmann out.

I don’t care either way whether Feldmann is back or not but if he is back at least we saw growth with Nine.

Full disclosure I like California and Nine.

I like the majority of Feldy’s work and thought the production on Nine was excellent. No qualms with another blink/Feldy record.

  6. Nine sounds way better than California

  7. If Tom rejoins and they somehow convince him to work with Feldmann, I’d be verrrry interested to see what that would sound like. For better or worse.

I wonder if Tom would work with Tim Pagnotta, who he knows from touring etc.

Loved Nine, liked California, wouldn't mind Feldman not having a hand in the next one.

I just want something well thought out and taking structures of songs and breaking the norm. Elements and experimental pieces from Untitled kinda poked it'd head through on Nine and I'd like to see them capture that even further.

I feel like a post-hardcore blink album would be my absolute dream. Have no idea how it would sound or work out, but I've always loved the heavier and urgent blinks songs.

  10. Side note. The fact that Is This Thing Cursed and California came out roughly around the same time still blows my mind. Like, was Matt just sitting there laughing to himself listening to the final mixes of ITTC, comparing that album to California? Haha that album is incredible and a night and day difference.

But it really makes me want a Bill Stevenson/Blink album. I can only imagine… I don’t think they’ll ever do something like that.

  11. I would legit hate a Cameron Webb mixed Blink album. Please no. What he did to that last Strung Out album still makes me cringe.

  12. That album is mixed awfully for sure. But ITTC sounds pretty great to me. Better than how California is mixed, at the very least.

If blink ever signed with Epitaph they’d have to bring Scott back since that was what he wanted before they signed to MCA on Dude Ranch.

  14. Totally disagree. But that’s also because one sounds like it cost 10x more to mix, and based on who they used it was maybe even more than that. Give me Neal Avron making everything rubbery smooth all day.

I would throw insane amounts of money for multiple dates of that. Flights and all. I want to see it in the PNW and in SoCal.

  16. Fair enough. I don’t mind the pop perfection mixing, but I guess it comes down to songwriting and production. I just don’t like Feldmann’s work at the end of the day. Rubbery smooth mixing is fine if it can still sound human enough. Feldmann takes it a couple steps too far most of the time. But whatever they did on Nine, I’d take more of that, for sure.

I wish Feldman did with blink the same magic he did with the Mest’s Photographs. That album sounds amazing….also speak of Cameron Webb and Mest…I loved the last album but the sound was so quiet somehow….
So yeah, give me Tom produced by Feldy.I’d die to hear that haha

And I’d believe that haha I like what I like….To cause even more controversy I can’t stand The Wonder Years for example which is the band a lot of people here seems to enjoy

you're the only other person i've seen bring up post-hardcore and blink because in the past 7 or so years i've posted online a dozen times how i think untitled is a borderline post-hardcore record.

Obscure but I think Ken Andrews of Failure would be a great fit to mix a blink-182 album. His work with Paramore and Jimmy Eat World was pretty great and he really knows how to make a 3 piece sound *huge*.

Depends on what kind of album they wanna don, but there are lots of great options...some of which have already been mentioned. They need someone who's not intimidated. Nine production was really great for that album.

  25. Listening to Black Rain and still think that’s just pure Alkaline Trio, haha.
