There's a lot of chatter in Angels reddit and fan sites that that's the most likley landing spot for him via trade/FA signing. I'd love Pete and some others to come over as part of a trade haul.

Angels arent going to trade Ohtani. They should, but they won't. He will be signed to a bigggggggg boy deal in 2024 when he is UFA.

 

Not trading him would be the biggest mistake of this franchise' history. No chance he is re-signing. Zero. Get what they can get now before he walks. Save this post, because you can write it in stone.

 

you think he's gone in 3 weeks? or is this a next season deal? I fully agree they should trade him and it would be ownership malpractice to not, they just don't seem like a smartly run franchise lol

 

I don't think he'll be gone this season... Arte is still making a lot of money off of him.

 

I don't think the Mets would make a blockbuster hollywood sized trade offer for him, but if the team that trades for him doesn't lock him up longterm before he hits the market, uncle steve will be knocking with a publishers clearinghouse sized check. with the rumors floating that Soto is more and more likely to go back to washington, i would not be surprised to see Shohei in Queens.

Two Yankee Stadium starts have been bad as well. Too small a sample to judge playing in NY but only Ohtani knows the answer to that

 

Complete speculation but Ohtani feels like someone who relies a lot on routine and wouldn’t deal the best with a midseason trade

 

Only one person can truly know what Ohtani is thinking.

 

Ohtani could have choosen any team to play for and chose a west coast team. Not sure why that would change unless the money was unreal. The Dodgers seem like the most obvious landing spot.
