FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

I'd rather nine Nine's than another Tom album

Tom has always been very productive, I agree, but that list is “his” projects where he is in creative control (and profits). Blink is collaborative in nature, in that’s the bands origins with Mark and Tom. That requires a different type of collective momentum, and he has walked away from that one twice.

All the guys we are talking about are guys that stay very busy, so it’s hard to see anyone “retiring”, but I could see Brad’s comment making sense.

They do have banked material too.

only Lifeforms and the tour was good from all of that though haha

I do feel like Tom comes back sooner than later, and that the band starts putting out albums every 4-6 years. Big reunion tour is probably pretty soon

I’m at the point where I’d be fine with a 4 piece in a live setting, I think that would be a really cool and new thing for fans, but I’m not interested in new music with Tom, mostly because of what @bradsonemanband said. Tom’s too busy and moves at a snail’s pace when it comes to writing and recording.

If a 4 piece is on the table, shouldn’t we also discuss a 5 piece with dual drummers???

Obviously very different bands, but look at Metallica's path the last decade. They only release an album once every six years, and while they do headline major festivals sporadically, they haven't done a full US tour in over 5 years. They're all in their mid 50s too, and they're still one of the biggest bands in the world. And I don't think their fanbase complains that much about it lol.

I think that's the trajectory Blink is heading towards. They'll headline major festivals, they'll do a tour every few years, and they won't rush to make new music. To blame a pace like that on Tom is kinda silly. They're older, they've got other outlets of creativity, they've got families they want to spend time with and they certainly don't need to be workhogs anymore. Can anyone name a band on that age/level besides Foo Fighters that work that hard? Green Day doesn't even work at that fast a pace.

Every single song needs to be reworked to support two four on the floor drummers

Really hope if/when Tom comes back to blink his heart is in it and he really cares. Lifeforms shows that if he’s into something he can still make good music.

Lifeforms also showed that he's now willing to work with co writers, producers and a label. We're dealing with a much different Tom than from 7 years ago.

Lifeforms is still the best thing AvA ever released!
I’m coming back to that album at least once a week and still love it.
Hoping Tom bring some of that Cure guitar sounds back to blink if that’s the case.

I kind of expect scene bands to take over standard summer Rock Festivals in the next 5-10 years. The 80's hair metal bands are getting pretty old.

Still holding on to the pipe dream that there will be 4 EPs with one member driving the ship on songwriting and production for each release. Any release with all four of them would be cool. It would be pretty awesome to get a Blink song with Matt and Tom trading Chorus's and Mark dropping a signature bridge. Doesn't need to last forever, but it would be wild to hear.

I'm not really huge into the idea of Tom rejoining because of what happened last time, but it would be really cool to hear him and Matt working together. Maybe people would finally stop giving Matt shit for not being Tom... maybe.

What benefit is there for Tom if he rejoins? He's already getting paid when they tour right?

I went a few years without listening to blink at all and just listened to Nine for the first time. Pretty good! Not as good as anything from Dude Ranch through Neighborhoods but still

Would be paid more if he has song writing credits with a new album and goes out on tour with them.
