I always get scared to post because I always feel like a major noob when it comes to metal. But I am definitely a lurker often.

 

To be fair, I definitely was like that in the beginning. I lurked the fuck out of this site back when it was in the waning years of AbsolutePunk and even after joining I was too socially anxious to engage that much (I was much younger back then) but over time that changed.

Not to be all sappy and gross but this thread has a been a nice little constant in my life since then actually so I'm glad I did get into regular rotation here hah

 

Metal heads are nerds. Just have a good sense of humor and you will be good!

 

Sense of humor is all I got going for me, guess I'll fit in fine here haha.

 

hell yeah all walks of life welcome here. When AP became Chorus in 2016, I was wrapping up my 100 Metal Albums in 100 Days thing and that was the beginning of my journey (everything before that was metalcore and more mainstream stuff). So I haven't really been listening to it THAT long, and to be honest I don't listen to it nearly as much anymore.

What do you like?

Post whatever you want here. Sure, people might gravitate towards some subgenres over others, like I'm more likely going to check out a death or black metal album over a djent or nu-metal album, but so far next to no people in the thread are douchebag elitists.

 

I like a bit of everything really. I wasn't raised on metal by any means, but I got into all of the metalcore stuff first, then gravitated towards all of the MySpace deathcore stuff when I was in middle school. Then I went a while where I didn't really listen to anything heavy

now I like a lot of different stuff. I'm just now kinda dipping my toes into old school death metal, and a bit of black metal as well.

 

Sounds like just the thread I need! Appreciate it.

 

If there is any elitists or neckbeard snobs who lurk this thread: Know that if you try to make this place unwelcoming or uncomfortable for newbies or anyone else for that matter, your ass will be shown the door. Metal is a place of belonging for many, many people and I think I speak for everyone in here that people who go against that are assholes, this thread is an awesome oasis of cool people and riffs and it should be open to anyone who wants to share a mutual love together.

 

Cool! Let me know a genre you want to dive into and I can try and give you a few recommendations.

 

I was also raised on Myspace deathcore (other than like... SOAD, Distrubed, radio metal) and still very much love the genre. I actively listen to pretty much all subgenres of metal but I'm very much on a black metal kick this year.

Anyone else going to this tour this month? Death tribute with members who played on Leprosy playing the album fully with some Scream Bloody Gore cuts too.

I got the new Tomb Mold tape in the mail yesterday and have been listening to Antichrist Siege Machine all day while working. All I've got to contribute at the moment because life's been fun.
