hold up, school bus fee?!

 

Oh yeah. Here in MA you have to Pay for your child to take the bus to and from school. Other wise parents have to drop them off or pick them up...which causes more issues for working parents.

In my day, you either took the bus or walked. they started the fee for busses like 2-4 years after I graduated High school. Fucking ridiculous.

 

I'm not sure of its the whole state, but my stupid hometown has this:

Transportation / Welcome (ashland.k12.ma.us)

Bus fee is due MAY 1, 2022. Registrations received after the due date may not be processed until September 1, 2022. We cannot guarantee a seat on the bus for any student that registers after the due date. All seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please mail this registration form along with a check or money order for the appropriate fee ($360 per student / $720 maximum family cap – early registration discount if payment is received before May 1st $290 / $580) made payable to Ashland Public Schools-Bus Fee. Payment may also be made online at City Hall Systems - eBilling ePayment. Payment will reserve a seat on the bus. No bus passes will be given until payment has been received. Mail this form to: Ashland Public Schools, Business Office, 87 West Union St., Ashland, MA 01721. Please call Tamara Saviatto at (508) 532-4007 with any questions.

 

and this is why I think its like a kick in the fucking balls for the state to be like "well, here ya go, here's $250" that won't even cover that fucking bus fee.

Not sure how it works in other states but more places need to follow Michigan's lead and get a citizen's petitions going to put pro-choice laws into their state's constitution in their next election.

dude, I would have been walking my ass to the other side of town to get to school if they had this fee when I was in 7-12 grade. No fucking way my mom would have packed up two toddlers to take me to school everyday and no way in hell would she have paid a fee, period.

 

Jeeze, my high school was a good 15-20 minute drive, I would've been fucked if I had a bus fee my parents couldn't afford

 

people are just completely clueless (somewhat understandably) but media makes them feel comfortable eulogizing a pretty awful guy

 

It'll be a while before some of the bigger leftist outlets publish detailed obits or essays about his legacy, but in the meantime I think the Atlantic's is a good piece for anyone who doesn't know a ton about Abe's Japan or Japan's place in the international order in general. The ideological bent is obvious from the outlet, the author, and the first sentence so you don't really need the reminder to take it all with a grain of salt.

Never heard of a school bus fee. Truly fucked.

 

It looks like its statewide for public schools. 20 years ago there was none of this. Its ridiculous. I don't know how I would manage if I had a child. I don't know how anyone does who isn't making at least 50k or more a year.

I seriously need to hug my father for providing for me the best he could between child support and raising his son with my step mom. That man is fucking super hero and a saint.

 

Of course the plan is a compromise that isn't really for anyone
