(Required) Standardization feels like a double edged sword to me. There can be legit reasons to use an alternative connection. What if someone comes up with a connection that can transmit more data faster? Technology moves faster than government standards can keep up. I’m just not sure how you separate “there is a legit reason for having a different connector” from “we just want to use our own connector so we can profit from perephials”

 

I agree, which is why I think legislation on this is stupid and the EU is going to force people to have outdated shit on their devices for years after it should be obsolete.

 

I think we should all use the potato standard.

 

the gerrymandering actually wasn’t AS bad as it could have been, mostly because 1. The Dems did pull off a few friendly gerrymanders and 2. The 2010 gerrymanders were so bad that it was hard for Repubs to draft themselves even more seats.

The bigger problem is the environment…it’s just hard to win the toss ups when you’re the incumbent party and are highly unpopular

i will say I think it won’t be as bad as Biden’s poll numbers show. I think there are a lot of people out there who disapprove of Biden but will still vote Dem in the midterms. They’ll still lose the house likely, but I don’t think it’ll be the like 60 seat swing or whatever of 2010

 

I was so pissed when they removed the Scott Pilgrim game from every console.

 

Was the game itself removed and made unplayable or just the option to buy it? My understanding was that it was the latter?

I don’t really buy physical media anymore but I definitely don’t buy digital media. If something isn’t streaming somewhere I don’t mind renting it for $2 or $3.

 

The same reason they are going to move to it on a new generation of phones, and have moved to it on all their other devices (earlier than a lot of people wanted). It's a better connector (and Apple basically designed it).

I know it was completely removed from the stores and I couldn't download it when I replaced my console. It was a really pain in the ass. Bought it again the second the rerelease happened.

 

Because it's going to piss off something like a billion people that already have adapters for one format and don't understand the benefit in the change.

Yeah, this definitely drives some of my purchases.

Certain Marvel games were delisted for a time, so when Shattered Dimensions came back on Steam, I leapt on it.

In reverse, I was one of the lucky to get Deadpool before it got delisted the first time.

Now I see both are delisted again.

I'm fine as long as I can play my games, but it sucks to think of the ability to purchase them as a ticking clock.

 

I find it hilarious how people actually thought one tiny drop of blood could give you all the results you wanted...meanwhile when you have to pee in a cup, they make you fill it to a line, otherwise, it won't be enough to test.

I'm no doctor, but again....clearly common sense wasn't given out to everyone before they were born.
