Player's Log: Danganronpa V3.

Finished Chapter 5. Sad that Kaito is dead, but at least he got to accomplish his dream before he died, and he didn't die by Monokuma's hand, so there's that.

Gonna admit, I know a little bit about what's coming, even if I don't know all the pieces and how they connect together. Very interested to see how this all pans out.

I'm going to try to finish the final chapter today, and then decide what I want to do about the postgame content, since there's a lot of it.

I have maybe a third of the final trial left, but I'm going to stop for tonight and pick up tomorrow in the morning.

 

Player's Log: Danganronpa V3.

Homer: Marge, I'm confused. Is this a happy ending or a sad ending?
Marge: It's an ending, that's enough.

I have thoughts.

This game became incredibly meta. I already knew some of what was going to happen, but they really went full throttle with it, all the way to the end. It's really actively making me think about myself as a gamer and the implications of me wanting another Danganronpa game.

Like, I would want another one for two reasons: one, because I love solving mysteries, and two, because I'm very interested to see what kind of world our three survivors find themselves in. Is Danganronpa really fictional? If it is, then what kind of world allows the game show to happen? And what will the world do now that they've effectively shut the show down? Or did they really?

But also, I recognize that this game is very much a commentary on the fanbase and the series in general, and from that perspective, I feel like making another one would be a slap in the face to what this game was trying to present. It's very much an intriguing and definitive capstone to the series from a meta perspective, rather than something trying to set up a new arc all of its own.

Thus, I feel a little conflicted.

From a gameplay perspective, I feel like this game finally achieved the ultimate version of what the series had been going for. They revised the minigames into forms that felt fun and not frustrating, and the additions were welcome and not detracting from the experience.

If this does have to be the last one, they ended on a high note.

I also like the meta situations they add at the end:

- Using the title of the game as a plot point is brilliant, because unless you spoil yourself, you have no reason to suspect the title of the game is anything other than V3 or Version 3.

- Saihara asking the player what they should do and then being asked to "save this situation", which you can do, but you're really supposed to opt not to, which continues the story.

- At the end, when they try to get the player to play the minigames and answer with Hope, when the real solution is to do nothing, and let the time run out.

I love things like this that make the player feel like they're an active participant in the game's story.

Anyway, I now have post-game content available to me, but I'm not sure how much I'm going to do, cause it's rather a lot. There's the typical School Mode, but there's also a Talent Development Mode that involves every character from the franchise, and another mode that I haven't unlocked yet that I think is some kind of RPG mode? I don't really remember.

I'll play around with it all a bit and see how I feel.

Trying to complete the CHI cauldron in HFW and there is a glitch where a component will fall through the bottom of a mechanical arm if you don’t put it in the right place and it will roll off if you move the arm too quick. I’m about to rage over this.

 

Finally beat it but it was unnecessarily hard to place it in the right spot to not fall

It’s really unfortunate how bad some of the glitches surrounding platforming/puzzles are in the game. I was doing a quest last night and was getting so angry due to Aloy just falling for no reason. Then a chest I wasn’t able to get because the game glitched out and a piece of debris prevented me from moving forward in a certain direction. The game is still really good but they could have ironed some more stuff out.

 

started playing Elden Ring again after a long break and remembered why i stopped for a minute after getting tilted after dying several more times to Rahdan lol

 

Are you staying on your horse and summing all the NPCs?

i try to use some glintstone sorceries every now and then to get his health down a bit (which tbqh, got me killed a few times) but even worse, twice when starting the second half he straight up ZEROED in on me as i was running away

 

I think it's time to level vigor

I beat Radahn's ass on my 2nd try just staying on my horsie. He hit me like once. I can't really help you past the above advice.

 

honestly i probably just really need to resist the urge to step in and "help" lol, every time i get close it doesn't end well for me
i wanna feel like i at least landed one hit on him

Redfall is my most anticipated game aside from maybe Skate

 

If you just keep reviving the NPC’s you should be good.

 

I really hope Redfall ends up being good, it looks cool so far.

 

yeah i've been getting so close lately. last try last night i got him to such a small amount of health but he randomly decided to aggro on me and chased me down, managed to swipe at me to knock me down, then as i was stunned on the ground smashed me and finished me off lol.
i was so angry

 

Working toward platinuming HFW (would be my first), scanning all the machines is going to be annoying because I didn’t scan the Corruptors during the Faro’s tomb mission so now I have to work through the Maw of the Arena challenges to get another to show up lol.
