Nothing restores faith in the institutions like letting Republicans take control of them after Republicans lose both Congress and the White House

I know the common line of thinking is that nothing is getting done even with a Democrat majority in Congress, but it really isn't a majority. There are two "Democrats" who stonewall everything. Nothing will ever get done with Manchin and Sinema in the Senate.

  10. Not even trying, not even getting caught trying, not even threatening for leverage … that’s what really pisses me off.

From federal land, federal doctors, there’s so many different options you could be attempting. Doesn’t work? Expand the court and try to do it! Show people why they should vote for you because you’ll actually try to do what they ask, or they’re gonna stop voting cause it doesn’t matter if they do if you won’t even attempt shit. /rant

I get that they don’t want to seem extreme, but truthfully whatever the fuck they do is going to be painted as extreme anyway. So do what you can to protect people.

“They don’t want to seem too radical” is fucking silly when you’re dealing with fascism imo

Not wanting to undermine trust in the Supreme Court is what boils my blood. They just stripped away women’s rights and are daily responsible for suffering as a result and stopped elected officials from passing gun safety measures just last week! You don’t want to undermine that?

Executive has a lot of power and maybe congress shouldn’t let Manchin split up bills and then only pass the bad one. House has a lot of oversight function it could use on SCOTUS but they’re going on recess. It’s pathetic. The republicans have no policy power and their big policies are moving forward so how long is this excuse supposed to hold up?

i do wonder what the calculus is…like they have to know this line of rhetoric is going to cost them some of the young vote. If they go with the extrme strategy, it probably costs them some votes from the middle.

there doesn’t seem to be a good strategy for them politically on the surface. So I’d say if you’re stuck in that position, you try to do whateve could help the most and let the chips fall where they may. At least then you could say you fought and give the next generation a voters a reason to keep fighting

Has anyone in here had to call the police for a domestic dispute in an apartment building? Is that the best option? Do you intervene yourself? Genuinely asking here.

Should You Call The Police If You Hear Your Neighbors Fighting?
this seems to make sense. Maybe call the DV hotline for advice. I tend to err on the side of not getting police involved but if the person is yelling for help or you can tell they are being hurt badly I would call the police or go over to check on them if you feel safe enough.

I have not and don’t really have any advice but I feel like that would just escalate the situation either when the cops arrive or after they leave.

Yelling and screaming. She’s telling him to leave and he won’t. She saw stuff in his phone and he was lying about shit. I get fights, but this has been for a while.
Yeah, I plan on checking when the dude leaves
