They were 13-12 in June, so they avoid the characteristic complete June meltdown. They'll be fine (I think more than fine), but they do desperately need to get Scherzer and deGrom back, and obviously they have a lot of work to do at the deadline (a DH and two relievers at the least). But they treaded treaded water with hard schedule and a bunch of injuries, so I'll take that without too many complaints

until both jake and max have 2-3 starts each under their belts with no setbacks or issues, i'm honestly not able to be optimistic about their returns. megill came back and went right back out. feels like the offense has completely dropped off. Escobar is barely playable. They definitely need a bat or two at the deadline, and to send chasen shreve and trevor williams to the farm.

 

I'm not super worried about Max since he's already made a rehab start and it's not an arm injury or injury that tends to linger. As long as he wasn't rushed back (which is possible, but Max strikes me as the person who really knows his own body and when he's ready to go), he should be fine. Jake is obviously a complete enigma, but I do like that he hasn't had a setback for a little while now. Obviously any more setbacks to those two would be pretty devastating, but I am choosing to be optimistic until that happens

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Freddie doesn't have a no trade clause with his Dodgers contract. He would have 10-5 rights had he stayed with Atlanta. So the Dodgers could basically decide to slash payroll and ship him off to Detroit or some shit at any moment?
