States are already exploring limitations on THC and most states have limits on the proof of alcohol. In college we would stock up on the 190 proof Everclear when we came back to Chicago because the highest proof allowed in Michigan was 151.

My biggest issue with cigarettes is that they have direct negative effects on people around them who do not choose to participate in that activity. So if you can do it in a space where you can completely eliminate that, have at it!

 

But for gun safety

 

I guess I’m pro nanny state, too, because I would happily live in a society where smoking cigarettes is criminalized, and having a gun was, as well; alongside vax mandates.

But drunk driving isn't an inherent part of drinking. I started consuming alcohol more than 20 years ago and have never once driven drunk.

Smoking cigarettes, however, ALWAYS produces secondhand smoke.

I too have been experiencing pain, nausea, ringing in the ears, and cognitive difficulties. I think a payment in the exact amount of my student loan debt should do the trick, however.

Not a cigarette user at all, I just can't find a way where I view this as a positive. It seems like a very slippery slope to go down and wasting government resources on this is insane with everything else happening. You better believe Trump or whomever in the GOP will jump on this and use it as an example of "government overreach".

The second hand smoke argument is valid, but honestly who is in a situation where they're around that much secondhand smoke that it becomes a hazard? Maybe a bartender or casino dealer? This will absolutely backfire on Dems if they try to push this through, when there's a myriad of other things they should be focusing on.

"They came for your cigarettes, how long before they come for your guns...your alcohol...your religion" I can already envision something like this being touted by the GOP.
