As a non smoker I hate to see people get addicted and have their health affected by smoking. Of course it’ll piss off smokers but in the long run frankly it could save many lives

also why I don’t think banning the plant/tobacco in general is a good idea. Way easier to make that punitive on the little guy vs. focusing on the chemicals the industry adds during production

I don’t think people in here understand the measures people with addictions will go to to get what they need. Unless there is actually addiction treatment with this then it’s not going to do anything.

Yeah I was just going to point out that this is just going to lead to THC caps and other bullshit with weed. I am very anti-smoking cigs but trying to outlaw it and/or cap the nicotine is not something I support. Its draconian and is just going to lead to more government bullshit.

Also in regards to the health costs, at least for my company, there is a penalty you have to pay if you are a smoker. Not sure if that works with say Medicare/Medicaid but at least with private insurance some of that cost is covered via that. Though I could be completely wrong and its just more money into insurance companies pockets.

That gets me thinking if I truly support that because as someone who smokes weed, there is nothing stopping an insurance company from penalizing me for doing that.

i don’t see a direct line to THC caps unless they prove THC is physically addictive and Big Weed is purposefully adding more of said addictive substance to their production. Just like with alcohol, people can become dependent on it/the feeling they get from it, but that’s a bit different than nicotine

I mean we are already seeing it in certain states I believe, mainly southern ones. I also know states like Illinois have a progressive sales tax based on THC %. So its already happening in various ways.

And Big Weed is growing plants based of THC percentage, they are pushing high THC weed because unfortunately consumers think higher THC means better weed when that is not always the case.

uhh not sure if that’s what you meant but alcohol is physically addictive and one of the only things you can die from the withdrawal.

yeah but alcohol companies aren’t adding extra addictive chemicals to their product lol

well yeah you’ll get that just like you’ll get rules on types of alcohol that can be sold at certain places in certain states and etc. Relatedly, do some states ban grain alcohol? I thought I read that somewhere but can’t remember if it was true or not

PA’s alcohol rules were always weird to be, distributors vs. liquor stores and etc

Open carry being universal really hinders my anti smoking argument haha

We'll never truly have peace in this country until everyone is openly carrying guns. It's the only way.

listen, allowing people to open carry guns everywhere while getting rid of e-cigs and lowering nicotine in cigarettes all at the same time is going to be fine. It’s all going to be just fine.

people understand, they just don’t care. we all know nothing will come from this. waiting for politicians to be arrested (or even charged with crimes) is a waste of time. trump was involved in like 30+ scandals in 4yrs and absolutely nothing came from any of it.

If we're going to have to have guns everywhere, am I the only one who prefers open carry to concealed carry? I would rather know who the gun-toting loons are rather than paranoidly assuming everyone is one.

Nah open carry just raises tension in any situation IMO. Increases the chances of something irrational happening
