Which areas are in danger of going dry this summer? Vegas? I feel like I’ve heard very little about this.

Obviously won’t help cops going/coming from another state, but at least it might address the “got fired from this town, I’ll move two towns over and be a cop there now” shit

 

Also shocked to see the base pay for cops there is below 50K. Figured a southern state like Georgia would be pouring money to police already

 

Cops make a ton of money in overtime. Also lots of them start low but then it increases dramatically in a few years

 

There’s just no such thing as an underpaid cop.

 

Cops in my town will make 50k as their base pay (when they start) but still end up making 115k per year when you consider all the OT hours they lie about.

It's weird because where I grew up on long Island lots of people tried to get into Suffolk County PD and it's super competitive so lots became NYC cops. Yet they also give out absurd amount of overtime so they obviously either need more cops or just are allowing it for no reason? The guys with seniority get first option for overtime and basically a lot of them take it before retirement because then they get paid out more when they retire. My step-dad is a retired cop and he's clearing three figures retired it's absurd

 

They're allowing it because they want money. They are lying and stealing it because they want more money

lol this is basically my FIL. I don’t know how much overtime grifting he did but he refuted a couple years after 9/11 and I think his pension is somewhere in the low 6 figures AND he works as a PI for the Nassau county DA or something like that and pulls a salary from that

As a big union supporter, it really is hard to rectify my hatred of police unions with my support of union's overall. Though I guess I also am hugely critical of the UAW and the Teamsters. It is why I am glad that the Amazon union is staying independent.

 

you just gotta remember that the police aren't real workers and actually are anti-worker.

I am with you on those big AFL-CIA type unions.
