That Contortionist tour is very sick and I would absolutely be at it if it wasn't the same day as Meshuggah/Converge here.

Really cool to see them hitting the road (and with Supercrush too). I'm really hoping for an east coast run in the fall/winter.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

that Contortionist tour is so dope and Language is one of my top albums of all time

Only problem is the Gaslight Anthem tour is hitting here the same day

    help?

I think you already know the response you're gonna get on here but Gaslight seem like they're back to stay and I would not count on the Contortionist ever doing this again

yea combo of Contortionist being a part time band and the set list and length they are doing to me seems like a no brainer

Really cool line-up for the most part but...

I really wish whoever booked these things would drop some of the older acts hyper-targeted to 45-60 year olds (Subhumans, Agent Orange, Dead Kennedys cover band); bump up some of the mid-tier bands; and book a few younger acts. Plenty of traditional pop-punk, hardcore, and/or ska bands with members who are less than 35 years of age to choose from.

This kind of shit is how genres die out.

I have to say, one thing that is truly disappointing about the whole punk/ska field is the very little-to-no support for upcoming bands. Just looking at the lineup, all the bands like Bad Cop/Bad Cop (and countless others not on the lineup) literally haven’t budged in popularity since starting. And they’ve been out there for quite some time too.

People talking about those genres still being alive and well are only talking about Bad Religion and Less Than Jake still filling up large theaters, but won’t even acknowledge the existence of bands like Pears

I think the only band of this era that’s found success is The Interrupters, but Tim Armstrong helped every step of the way…

Can LTJ even fill up your local House Of Blues these days or do they usually have to do it via a co-headliner? I think here in NYC Bad Religion can do like 2k-capacity venues but for larger they have to co-headline with a similarly sized band (as they did with Alkaline Trio last year).

The unfortunate thing about the elder bands in that genre is that they kinda just still do this to spend time with friends. And for the most part... Their friends are all of the older punk bands. There's the occasional odd exception here or there, but on this poster, even the smallest band is fronted by an old-ass skateboarder (Urethane). Haha.

I don't expect bands like Pears, Direct Hit!, Mercy Music, A Wilhelm Scream, Taken Days--or even the Bombpops--to just suddenly get huge and start filling 1k capacity rooms without some sort of TikTok thing happening. But the older bands in their own scene/genre aren't doing them all any favors either.

It's really interesting how the pop-punk/emo scene has managed to evolve in such a way that younger fans and older fans can find something to agree on. Just not happening with the more traditional style of melodic "punk" or whatever.

Then again, the older fans are also kinda notoriously shitty with all this too. Which probably deters anybody from under the age of like, 25 from giving a shit. Hah.

I don't think LTJ and Bad Religion need a co-headliner to pack a 1-2k venue. But they definitely need strong support acts to pull it off.
