That's the point of the tweet. That it's crazy that so much just happened to occur while they were gone.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Mike also thinks Vecna is just a d&d character lol he's gonna get a shock when he gets back to Hawkins

(assuming he ever makes it back and him, Jonathan and Will don't die on the way back to their home planet)

Who do we think is going to get to The Nina Project first? Team Byers+Mike, or the Military?

This is very internet specific, but I hate how with the binge model I had to ignore this thread entirely from 3am last Friday until finishing the episodes a full week later. Imo there is an element of missing out on discussion unless you’re the very first to watch things, and while I can do a good couch or laptop marathon like the best of us that doesn’t tend to be how I watch shows. And like right now of my real life friends only a few of us have finished and the rest are like two episodes in, gonna be a while before we can have a good chat about it.

My enjoyment of Severance was significantly higher being able to pop in here or on Reddit every week as the stakes built, even if just to collectively say holy shit with a few strangers lol.

Also it should probably be pointed out that part of the reason this thread is so active 10 days later is that there are two more episodes coming, that’s a point for weekly or at least chunked out release tbh.

Week-to-week is better. Binge model sucks imo.

Really love feeling pressured to watch the episodes as fast as humanly possible for fear of having literally everything insta-spoiled for me on social media. That's super enjoyable for me lol

Also yeah the weekly discussion is better. Not just online in a forum but with IRL friends. This place isn't the only place to discuss stuff, you know.

Honestly, this makes me think Steve is gonna die for sure now and this is just misdirect/Levy is going to be too busy to do much next season and can “leave” because he wasn’t gonna be very active on it.

Yup, basically exactly how I feel. Even ignoring the hype building of weekly eps, the full drop model necessitates some level of ripping through a whole season in as few sittings as possible (or not caring about spoilers, which we don’t need to relitigate lol). And it totally does apply to real life as much as online.

On a nerd level, there’s probably some interesting stuff to unpack about how much the communal discussion aspect is part of the enjoyment experience of watching/listening to stuff in 2022 - I can say it’s definitely a significant part for me.

I'm glad I don't care about spoilers in anything and often seek them out. I realize I'm in the minority on that one. Binge model ftw

Apparently this is actually from an interview before season 3 so…who knows I guess. Just a few more weeks of needlessly sitting on our hands!

There aren't many shows that I can say that pretty much everyone watches and this is definitely one of them. I guess I knew yellowstone was popular, but most popular TV show? I don't know I'd believe that without seeing the back up.

RE: Release model... you're never going to please everyone. My work and entertainment schedule makes me lean towards weekly as I can watch and discuss (which is a huge part of it), but that's just me. Stranger things has such a wide demographic of fans age wise, that it's hard to say what the target audience prefers. I think a show that appeals to an older, more busy crowd would be fine with weekly, but a show for college kids as the target would most likely say binge.

The only thing that makes it difficult is when a show becomes so engrained in culture that it bleeds into every social media page. It's not quite GOT level, but I have seen some meme accounts post mild spoiler content. Also spoilers out in the wild do happen, but I honestly tend to overthink things and wouldn't be blabbing about a show that just came out in the middle of crowded bar where I know other could overhear it. This is coming from someone though that refused to go a once every 4 years sporting event in order to watch the BB finale in case someone looked up spoilers after the game and yelled it out. This definitely seems like the kind of show though that someone would shout out the season finale in a bar.

You aren't the only one. I guess it depends what the show is and if it's meant to be built around the surprises and reveals. I've had plenty of shows spoiled that I would say I still enjoyed the hell out of, but there's other shows that I love that I can't imagine enjoying as much if i knew what would happen. I sometimes kick myself even for reading fan theories that turn out to be true (like the latest episode of BCS was called out by someone on reddit that took the sting out of it).

It's all personal though, I usually have to ignore threads and spoilers for weekly shows for months because I don't really like watching weekly.

I decided to start watching the new Boys season early since there's three episodes out already and I still kinda wish I waited lol. The person I mainly talk about that show with is waiting until it's all out anyway.

There's no single model that works for everyone.
