however, vince is the type of guy that rewards people that come through in the clutch.. i'm sure vince is seeing cody with a new level of relish due to performance at hell in a cell.

 

When it comes to women’s wrestling Tony just comes off as a shithead.

 

Not related to the Sonny Kiss point specifically, but more related to the general questions that have been asked about other women on the roster like Ruby Soho going through periods of not much TV time. Am I wrong in understanding that a lot of the top end of the women's roster work more companies than the men's - many of whom are pretty focused right now on AEW? Which obviously can be a cause or effect of how Tony books the divisions.

 

For real. You could still have Finn joining Judgement Day, position AJ as a top face because of it, *and* tell a storyline where Finn slowly takes control away from Edge

Instead WWE gotta WWE and wonder why everyone's stopped watching

 

Especially when AJ is doing the Bullet Club thing and aligned with Finn. That stuff basically writes itself rather than the retcon they just did

 

I think its a bit chicken/egg, some of the women took more indie bookings in 2021, though maybe as much to get ring time instead of really wanting to do it. But Tony had no problem putting the belt on Thunder who books her own promotion. And looking at the list, Toni, Ruby, Jamie, Anna etc had zero non-AEW bookings this year. Statlander has one. All went through 6+ week periods without TV time.

Basically, this is the time for Tony to prove he cares. Half his top guys are hurt, theres a bunch of free show time, and he's got like 6-8 credible women who can work 10+ minute matches and build feuds with ease ready to go. If all we get is the standard 9:30 match through All Out, its time to give up on the AEW womens division, and time for the Statlanders and others to try and go to WWE or Impact

 

Not to mention AJ can easily carry the company and we would get killer AJ/Finn matches.

 

As much as I love aew, some of the cracks that are starting to show are a bit concerning. It’ll be interesting to see how Tony steps up.

We all knew it would happen towards.... Got to where we couldnt stand him, and now hes a darling that I wouldnt mind seeing come around for another program at some point... Didnt think Id ever say that tbh

 

Like most good/great things, they focused on Cena way too much which made everyone turn on him. And in the WWE way of only having someone do 5 moves, that alone gets tiresome let alone if they’re the face of the company - and always a face!

That’s part of why Reigns was so hated and had so much backlash. Imagine this Reigns heel run but as a face and that’s basically what we had with Cena for a decade+. Once the person steps away and isn’t the focus on every weeks show for years and years, yeah you can begin to appreciate them again lol

I’d even wager that the Reigns heel run is getting a bit stale but that’s more so on the lack of anyone properly being on the roster to face him. And now that he has a reduced schedule, that “smothering” effect should go down.

 

Tiffany Stratton is actually pretty decent, but I feel like her gimmick is basically what Taya's was in NXT which makes it even more confusing why they released her lol

 

I didn't start watching wrestling again until 2015 so luckily I missed all the LOLCENAWINS shit and got the KO and AJ feud Cena.

 

I saw the "She wasnt meeting revenue, etc" stuff today. Whoever's got Vince's ear now must be pretty magical; got them to fire Shane and Stephanie in a 6 month period and basically pushed HHH out the door as well.
