Look, my whole point/view isn't supporting either way, my point is that Cody is a responsible, successful and very motivated individual. He happens to be an outstanding human being as well and that's the account of many people. He is completely allowed to do what he wants. I get the concern, and I get people being against it. That's acceptable.

Cody had the main event of a 3 month long feud, and it was the blow off match. That's why he made the decision. It was important to HIM. None of us can put ourselves in his shoes at what that must feel like. He did it because he wanted to, and was fucking crying in the ring after kissing the mat.

Now what I do have a problem with is the self righteous view and saying fuck Cody for doing that, what an asshole. That, in my opinion, is never the right view to have. Cody most likely altered his career from here on out making the decision he did last night, in a positive way. The dude was a massive babyface. Naturally, especially in the internet wrestling community, people began spouting 'What Cody should do'. I never agree with that type of thinking. Cody made a decision based on a lifetime of personal reasons and influences and he damn well is entitled to that.

If you don't think he should have wrestled last night that's perfectly fine, I just can't stand the all or nothing shit.

Ditto, I feel like wwe should be blamed for all of it if you disagree especially with the way it was presented on tv.

I always keep it 100 with you: I think you were coming across a little more “all or nothing” in your initial posts on the subject than you probably intended to.

Maybe I did, and I didn't intend it to go that way so I redirected. It was all based off the reaction of Fuck Cody, WWE, Seth, and anyone who supports what Cody did last night lol. That's a little extreme.

But like I wasn't saying he had to wrestle last night

If a guy at my job robbed a bank and was praised for doing so, I would 100% have a problem with the culture that sets.

its kinda like when people get praised for working weekends. Its bullshit that ultimately serves to pressure others into also working weekends or looking bad in comparison.

  9. In some good news: Impact continues to increase (and fill) venue size with each set of tapings.

Well, if anything, the whole debate over how much of a draw Cody was and his decision to return to WWE seems settled. He set this thread on fire more than it's been in like, 5 years!

But the company is the one that sets the culture by allowing it, think realistically my friend.

Also, I know people shit on Seth’s current gimmick but god damn he really gets into his character and his character work is top notch.

I tuned into a WWE PPV I didnt even know was happening because I heard he tore a pec and was curious what they'd book.

I just wish that they'd go all the way with it and let him do some truly maniacal shit. Because right now the whole sadistic cackle is essentially his entire character and getting a little stale. Something akin to Hangman battling with himself internally to cheat to win against Punk would have taken Seth's character (and the entire match) to another level, imo. Especially knowing that Seth is going to be around for the fallout of this while Cody is gonna have to go get surgery.

Plus, with Cody out, and Randy, Seth is one of your few top guys available. But he kinda comes out of that match looking like a geek if you think about it for too long. But have Seth hesitating to do something truly sadistic to Cody during the HIAC match, which results in Cody being able to take advantage and get the win, now allows Seth to cut a promo on TV tonight that believably pushes his character in one direction or the other, depending on what you need from him in the current landscape—a shift to babyface where he admits his faults and realizes he's gone down the wrong path OR a descent even further into madness, vowing never to hesitate in that situation again. Either option works, either option done well furthers Seth's character without having the loss to Cody linger on him too long.

Buuuuuuut it's WWE and nothing is ever this nuanced or thought out anymore and they'll probably just bank on the fact that Seth is essentially forever over and not be concerned about it one way or the other.

  19. The Cody stuff has gotten me more interested in WWE than anything else in a while and it sucks he got hurt - the shows will probably stink while he’s out but that RR pop should be massive and WWE would be absolutely idiotic to not strap the rocket to him and have him beat Roman at Mania

Honest question: Everyone has Roman vs Rock lingering in the back of their mind for a Mania match. Is that matchup actually more interesting if Roman doesn't have the title? If they can get the Rock on board for that match, no one in their right mind is seriously going to believe that the Rock is going to win and be WWE champ in 2022, right. Not with his work schedule and how many projects he has upcoming. But some sort of family-driven storyline where the title isn't in the equation, and suddenly any outcome feels a lot more believable.

  21. I forget what the rumor was exactly if he wasn’t able to work a singles match but I vaguely remember it being

Roman and an Uso vs Rock and the other Uso. I think you could do that too.

  22. In theory I agree with you I just don’t know how Roman loses the belt before then with Cody out - he isn’t losing it on a random SDL or PPV

It's funny—of all the legends and legacy acts, how is it that the guy who somehow looks more like a professional wrestler now than he did when he was an active performer (and is seemingly in the best shape out of any retired wrestler and didn't walk away with any major injuries that we know of like Austin or Taker), feels at times like the most unlikely of them all to return for an actual program or match?

I can't even keep WWE's scheduling straight anymore. So Mania in LA where we'd expect to see the Rock is what, 10 months from now? The last major PPV before Mania is Rumble, right? Maaaaaaybe Cody returns in time for the Rumble, given the typical recovery time for the type of surgery he's going to need?

This by the way is the thing that was swirling in my head...Ali's a dude who has to have his head spinning after the last 24hrs. If he had been allowed or able to work hurt, there's no Kofimania and he gets a crack at one of the biggest star making arcs of the last decade. Instead of where he is, consistently working the low card, just back after asking for his release from the company.

  25. Yeah I would bet Cody gets the Cena pop return at RR at 30 and wins and then challenges reigns at mania

there just isn’t any realistic booking that has Roman losing before then - if Cody didn’t get hurt I’d think he’d either win MITB or challenge and beat Roman for one of the belts at SS
