I was hoping Nintendo would have their Direct on the 14th. Wonder if this means MS heard they weren't doing one on that day.

Same with the first game but I found all the Zero Dawn/Elisabet Sobeck stuff fascinating and most of the “current day” tribal stuff kinda boring. Except for one or two side quests I found myself skimming dialogue and eagerly searching for ancient relics and clues.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

Ok I'll do a serious one

    Player's Log: Atelier Sophie

One of the few Atelier games I've played without a time limit. It's much more laid-back, but sometimes a little aimless and I feel like I'm just running around the town triggering random scenes with party members in hopes to advance the story. I followed a guide to make some super good armor/accessories so I'm blowing through some of the bosses, but there are still a few that have wiped my party.

    Trials of Mana

Just beat the 8th Benevodon and I'm pretty sure I'm in the final dungeon ready to face the gauntlet of bosses. Of course for the remake there's a postgame where you can change your characters to a Class 4, so I'll be doing that soon.

    Chrono Trigger

Beat Dalton Plus in 12,000 BC. Gotta fly around in the Epoch to try and figure out a way to revive Crono. Just recruited Magus, who is a badass.

    Final Fantasy 1

Just dicking with this one for mindless grinding and comfort food whenever I don't feel like doing serious gaming. I started with two monks in my party and they just demolish everything with their bare handed attacks. I beat the Fiend of Fire and now I need to go do the Trials so I can update my classes.

This is all fair, my general view is that the Final Fantasy bar is set high, and both these games fall quite short of that bar. BUT as far as the bar for a solid JRPG that I would enjoy and spend time playing, both XV and XIII are pretty well above that bar.

Player's log: I accidentally subscribed to EA Play for a month

On today's menu: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster.

This is one of the most bare-bones racing games you can play. Select a race from the menu, pick one of the cars that are so basic you could probably get a lease on them making minimum wage, and then race them, but at least you don't have to drive around an open world to get to your races and unlock new ones.

The handling is awesome, all cars are drifty as hell, you have plenty of nitrous to power out of every bend and the tracks have great little shortcuts (that sometimes aren't shortcuts?)

Every now and then you get to race cars that are so expensive that no one has ever heard of them, even Elon wouldn't get a loan approved backed by his shitty Tesla stock to be able to afford one of them. They handle like super-sonic bars of soap with nitrous strapped to their dry sides.

Also, this game has a serious case of schizophrenia. The loading menus either tell you that you are faster if you don't drift and avoid the other cars, but is constantly encouraging you to drift and pick fights and even rewards you with it with points and achivements.

the graphics look old but performance is great.

Then they make you play as a cop 0/10 alt-f4 + ratio + uninstall + criterion fell off

The only need for speed game I ever played came out in the late 90s and let you drive in high speed chases, this was a few years before GTA III came out, I loved that shit.

That was probably the original Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit. Absolute banger of a game.

I approve of everyone's Player's Logs. It's fun reading about someone's gaming experience in semi-realtime.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Currently playing Tales of Arise, wanted to get into a new JRPG and it’s scratching that itch. Has the usual trope of amnesiac main character but at least it’s made me intrigued about why he had the mask on/what he isn’t remembering. Combat is fantastic, only in the second realm but I just love how the game looks/feels. Excited to see where it goes.

    Also: Vampire Survivors fucking rips
