I think if you look to cable networks and drama series in general, you'll see it more. There's definitely a lack of portrayal in sitcoms

i feel like this author gives us a bunch of examples of how this isnt the case haha. like...is this really an issue if there are shows that don't do this? "No One's broke on tv...except a bunch of examples".

Watching series 4 of Luther now that it's on Netflix. Man I forgot how good this show is. Elba is the man.

I don't normally pay attention to talent shows but Grace Vanderwaal won America's Got Talent and I'm pretty stoked for her. Seems like an awesome kid.

 

With Brie Larson winning the Oscar for best leading actress and Rami Malek winning the Emmy for best leading actor in a drama series, I feel like I really need to finally watch Short Term 12.

 

It also has Kieth Stanfield (Selma, Atlanta) and John Gallagher Jr (Margaret, 10 Cloverfield Lane) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn 99). It's also a perfect movie so yeah everyone should watch it.

 

I was watching 21 Jump Street yesterday, and thinking how I really want to re watch Short Term 12. Very good film.

 

Short Term 12 was one of the worst films of whatever year it came out. It is the harshest type of manipulative cinema, the kind that does not trust the audience to come to the conclusion that the filmmaker wants them to. There is a really dreadful scene with people running with an American flag, a type of symbol best left to commercials. It is supposed to be ironic in the context that it is used, ostensibly about the children in the group homes but ultimately about the fulfillment of the people who work there. It is essentially the same movie as The Blind Side, but The Blind Side did not mask it in the same way so it was more easily exposed.

 

So Julia Louis-Dreyfus is now one Emmy acting win away from tying Cloris Leachman's record for most Emmy acting wins at 8.

 

What should I watch right now: Orphan Black or Mr. Robot
